Chicago White Sox
Even after last year did not end the way the White Sox would have wished in the playoffs, they come into this season with a lot of optimism.
If you go roster for the roster, there is no question that Chicago is the best team in the AL Central and they really should be able to win that division again.
Something to really watch out for this season with them is how they do against some of the better teams in the league, as last year they did not do so great.
In 2021 they did a lot of beating up on a poor division but did not have a ton of success against the top dogs. That is going to have to change if they are going to be considered a legit threat in what is a very competitive American League.
In the early part of the 2022 season, they look good and currently come in with a record of 6-3. They will look to keep up that play when they hit the road to face their divisional rival in the Guardians.
The Chi Sox are coming off winning two games out of three over the Tampa Bay Rays, but they did lose to them on Sunday by a score of 9-3. Overall, there still were some good things from them in that series.
In the finale against Tampa Bay, Vince Velasquez went 4.2 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. After he departed, the bullpen did not exactly do their job in containing the Rays’ hitters.
Dallas Keuchel will be on the mound on Monday and that will certainly be no easy task for him to try and contain that Cleveland offense and go pitch for a pitch against Shane Bieber.
Cleveland Guardians
Besides their name change, there really was not a ton of talk about the Guardians heading into the season and the same can be said now that the season has begun.
When you look at their team, they really are not loaded with talent and that is going to make it difficult for them to be competitive in their league and division.
Don’t get me wrong, Jose Ramirez is one of the better players in the game and Shane Bieber is a top pitcher, but there is nobody else on that roster that you would build your club around, which is troubling at best for them.
For them to get back to being competitive and not be a middling team, they are seriously going to have to improve their roster both in terms of offense and pitching.
So far, they have seen mixed results in the 2022 campaign which I think is going to be the case for them for a good majority of this season.
Over the weekend, they got swept by the San Francisco Giants and were not competitive at all in the 8-1 loss to them on Sunday. I get their opponent is a very good team, but those kinds of results just cannot happen for them.
Aaron Civale went 4 innings and allowed 3 earned runs on Sunday. He did not give great length, but I thought he did a decent job against that lineup. None of that mattered though, as the offense disappeared and the bullpen gave up even more runs when he departed.
The Guardians will hand the ball to their ace Shane Bieber on Monday evening and hope that he can get his team back on track.
MLB Baseball Betting Trends:
- The White Sox are 6-2 SU in their last 8 games.
- The White Sox are 4-2 SU in their last 6 games against Cleveland.
- The total has gone over in 5 of Cleveland’s last 7 games.
- The Guardians are 1-4 SU in their last 5 home games.
Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Guardians MLB Prediction:
This game features two good starting pitchers and I feel it could be a close one when all is said and done.
Chicago is the better team here, but Cleveland has the starter advantage here.
With that said the 1.5 runs are too much for me to lay with the Guardians, even though I could see them winning the ball game.
I like the White Sox on the run line here.
