The oldest rivalry in the National League opens up again as the Cubs travel to St. Louis to face the Cardinals.

What can be said about the Cubs that hasn’t been said already? With the best lineup and best rotation in the majors, the Cubbies continue their domination of anyone who steps in their way.
The offense, led by Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Dexter Fowler and company, are 1st in OBP, 2nd in runs and 3rd in OPS. The pitching has been even better.
The Cubbies are also 1st in runs allowed, hits allowed and BAA, ERA and WHIP. It’s incredible how well-rounded their rotation is, and veteran John Lackey looks to continue that success against his former team.
Lackey is 4-2 with a 3.41 ERA and a WHIP of just 0.98. He was phenomenal in his last start against the Cardinals in St. Louis where he went seven innings and allowed no runs on four hits while striking out 11 batters.
St. Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals have been surprisingly efficient with their bats, though the pitching has been suspect at times.
Matt Carpenter and Aledmys Diaz have been the foundation of the Cards’ lineup, and they still have Yadier Molina and Matt Holliday as well.
The Cardinals are just 12-12 at home, and they’ll need to be flawless against a Cubs team that has owned the NL Central thus far.
Adam Wainwright will toe the rubber for St. Louis in the first game of this series. Though his record is 4-3, he comes in with a ballooned ERA of 5.92 and a WHIP of 1.53.
