Boston Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles Odds & Last 5
The betting odds slightly favor Boston with a moneyline of -118, while Baltimore comes back at +101. The runline has the Red Sox -1.5 at +138 and the Orioles +1.5 on the other side. The total is set at 8.5 runs for tonight’s matchup.
Boston enters after taking the series opener from Baltimore but had struggled previously against Seattle. The Orioles have now lost three straight games, although their recent defeats have remained competitive. Baltimore will look to end that skid at home after falling one run short against Boston.
Orioles Stats
The Baltimore Orioles have shown plenty of power despite some offensive inconsistency this season. Baltimore is batting .235 with a .317 on-base percentage. The Orioles have also hit 172 home runs, giving them another way to create offense.
Baltimore’s pitching staff owns a 4.18 ERA while opposing hitters are batting .253. The Orioles have also recorded 55 quality starts, giving the rotation some consistency despite the club’s overall pitching numbers.
Pete Alonso has supplied major power in the Baltimore lineup with 33 home runs and 94 RBIs. Gunnar Henderson has added 22 homers while scoring 83 runs. Both remain central pieces for an Orioles offense trying to end its current three-game slide.

Red Sox Stats
The Boston Red Sox have been especially productive hitting the ball into the gaps this season. Boston leads the league with 259 doubles while also hitting 147 home runs. That combination has helped the Red Sox generate extra-base production without relying entirely on homers.
Boston’s pitching staff has been another strength with a 3.67 ERA. The Red Sox have allowed 142 home runs while receiving solid work from their starting rotation. Ranger Suárez gets the ball tonight looking to continue that pitching success.
Willson Contreras has been one of Boston’s most productive hitters, batting .274 with 26 home runs. Caleb Durbin and Curtis Mead have also provided additional offense throughout the season. Boston will look for that lineup to build on the four homers it hit in the series opener.

Red Sox vs. Orioles Pitching Matchup
Ranger Suárez takes the mound for the Boston Red Sox with a 5-4 record this season. The left-hander enters with a 3.64 ERA and has recorded 119 strikeouts. His 1.24 WHIP reflects his ability to limit excessive traffic on the bases.
Suárez has provided Boston with a steady option in the rotation. Keeping baserunners under control will be important against an Orioles lineup that hit three home runs Thursday. Another controlled outing would put Boston in position to extend its winning streak.
Shane Baz gets the start for Baltimore with a 5-14 record and 4.01 ERA. The right-hander has recorded 139 strikeouts, showing the swing-and-miss ability he still brings despite his difficult win-loss record. Baz carries a 1.35 WHIP into the matchup.
Baz has also enjoyed success against the hitters currently on Boston’s roster, holding them to a .198 career average in 99 plate appearances. That history gives Baltimore something positive entering tonight despite its three-game skid. He will look to turn those matchup numbers into a much-needed Orioles victory.
Boston Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles bottom line: Boston enters at 76-65 after taking the series opener, while Baltimore looks to end a three-game losing streak and make better use of its recent success at the plate.

Red Sox Orioles Free Pick: Over 8.5
Here is my Red Sox Orioles free pick: Thursday’s opener gave us 11 runs, and I see enough offense on both sides to keep this series lively. I’m playing the Over again.
Boston won 6-5 with five combined home runs, including two from former Oriole Adley Rutschman in his return to Baltimore. Camden Yards didn’t exactly calm either lineup down.
Friday brings Ranger Suarez against Shane Baz. Suarez owns a 3.64 ERA, while Baz enters 5-14 with a 4.01 ERA and has had trouble turning decent outings into wins.
Neither starter needs to implode for this total to get there.
More importantly, Baltimore showed some punch Thursday with homers from Pete Alonso, Luis Robert Jr. and Christian Encarnacion-Strand. Boston answered with Rutschman, Nick Sogard and Roman Anthony going deep.
That’s plenty of pop. The bullpens also had to cover meaningful innings in the opener, and another close game could put both relief groups under pressure.
I’m of the opinion that 8.5 is a fair number rather than some bargain total, so I’m not expecting another home-run parade to make this easy. A 5-4 game does the job, and both lineups have enough power to reach that neighborhood.
My MLB Friday play lands on the Over 8.5.
