Here is my Orioles Mets free pick: I’m taking the Under 8. Monday’s opener gave us exactly the type of game I want to see before backing another low total, with Baltimore winning 2-1 and neither lineup generating sustained pressure.
The Mets are the bigger reason I’m staying Under. They’ve scored one run in each of their last two games and three or fewer in four of their last five. That’s a difficult offensive profile to ignore when we only need eight runs to beat us.
Baltimore hasn’t exactly been producing fireworks either. The Orioles managed two runs Monday and have scored three or fewer in four of their last six, so neither side enters Tuesday with much offensive momentum.
Both lineups are making bettors work awfully hard to find a reason to expect a breakout.
I also like having eight instead of 7.5. A 4-4 game gives us the push, and these offenses have recently provided enough empty innings to make that protection meaningful.
The late innings are always the concern with an Under, but I’m not going to invent offense that hasn’t been there. Citi Field gives us another setting where I’m comfortable backing pitching and quiet bats.
