The Braves come to New York to play a series against the Mets to start the week.
The Mets are in second place in the division, while the Braves are in last. This division series is a good series for the Mets to make a last ditch try to catch up to the Washington Nationals, with the Braves being one of the worst teams in the N.L.
The Braves have a rookie pitcher, Aaron Blair, starting, while the Mets counter with ace Noah Syndergaard.
There is not going to be much reason to watch unless you have a bet on the game.
The Braves are a hot mess right now, with a bunch a injured players out for the season. They’ve been losing games, and series, all season long and there seems to be little fight left in them at this point.
The lone bright spot all season long has been 1B Freddie Freeman, who has proven to be the ultimate pro with 30 HRs and a batting average of .295. Otherwise, the team is just plain bad and will probably finish 30 games behind the 1st place Nationals.
There is not much reason to think they are going to get much better next year either.
On the hill for the Braves will be the rookie Aaron Blair, with an ERA of 8.23 and no wins this season.
Some rookies have great first seasons, but this guy is one of those guys who has really struggled and probably just wants the season to come to a close. He’s made 12 starts and had 6 losses.
The Braves have a couple of relatively reliable starters and he is not one of them.
New York Mets
The Mets are on a roll right now. They swept the Minnesota Twins in their weekend series, and are a game head of the Giants in the NL Wild Card race heading into Monday.
CF Yoenis Cespedes is definitely their best offensive player right now, but it is questionable weather he will play in this game after leaving the last game with a bad headache.
It is amazing that the Mets appear to be heading back to the playoffs given the significant injuries they have endured to their lineup and pitching this season.
Starting against the Braves in this one will be “Thor” Noah Syndergaard, their best starting pitcher. With Jacob DeGrom and Steven Matz on the DL there is even more pressure and he continues to deliver.
He has a record of 13-8 over 28 starts. His ERA heading into this game is an impressive 2.43, and he’s pitched a career high 174 innings.
Freddie Freeman is a quality lefty bat that could give him some trouble (he is 1 for 3 against him).
With Syndergaard on the hill it is hard to get good value with the Mets, especially against a bad team like Atlanta.

Free Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets MLB Prediction:
There is every reason for the Mets to be such heavy favourites in this one. Unfortunately that means that this game should probably be a pass unless you are truly gambling on Atlanta.
There could be some value on the run line though as it should probably not be so standard.
4* Free MLB Betting Pick: New York Mets RL
Unless you are in a parlay you can’t justify the risk of the Mets in this one. They payoff is just too scant.
However, the runline is very enticing even though the Mets offense is never a sure thing – they swept this weekend but only scored 9 runs.
Sadly for Braves fans those Twins teams they just beat are better than they are.
