The Atlanta Braves were unable to clinch the World Series at home so we go back to Houston or game 6 and a potential game 7 on Wednesday.
Braves fans thought they had the trophy early in game 5 as Adam Duvall smacked a grand slam in the first inning and the crowd was electric. That is until the Astros came back and shut them all up!
What a game it was though, as neither starting pitcher even made through the 3rd inning which is something we are growing accustomed to now. Bullpens are going to decide the World Series in 2021 and that is a fact.
First of all, Brian Snitker tried to make himself look like a genius calling up two unknowns to start Game 4 and Game 5. Tucker Davidson was left in the game entirely too long with zero experience to rely on and the Braves paid the price for it. What the f**k that dude was doing in the game past the first inning is beyond me and he should have been pulled at any sign of trouble.
The third inning was that sign and Snitker just left him in the game to give up the 4 – 0 lead and the bullpens blew the game from there. Yes, Freddie Freeman gave the Braves a 5 – 4 lead in the 3rd inning but that was the last time Atlanta found a run at all as they took a 9 – 5 loss.
Atlanta Braves
I have no clue what the hell goes through a manager’s mind with a 3 – 1 series lead but Brian Snitker blew it IMO! Leaving Davidson in that game to give up that early lead made zero sense to me and I think that kid pissed his pants at least 3 times during the game. Deer in the headlights!
You may think you saw a composed kid but anyone with a brain and experience knows he was in WAAAY over his head! This is not the time to be experimenting with your AAA pitchers and that is all the last 2 starters for Atlanta have been. No names in a big boy world!
I am sorry if you disagree but I think Stinker’s brains were oozing out all over the dugout floor when he left Davison in the game past 1 run being scored. Much less getting set up to give the entire 4 run lead away?
Now, the Braves home win streak and all the momentum has now shifted to a confident team that knows how to win big games. We all know the experience both of these teams have but the Stros certainly have the overall edge in post-season experience.
Duvall’s grand slam was only the 3rd in World Series history and the first we have seen since game 3 of the 1960 fall classic. (Bobby Richardson)
The Braves have made 62 calls to the bullpen this post-season but when you use your staff that much everyone has now seen your stuff and knows what you bring to the table. No one is intimidated by the Braves bullpen anymore and the Astros are going to make them pay for it again tonight.
Houston Astros
The Astros are going home full of confidence after fighting their way to a game 6 at home on Sunday night. Luis Carcia will apparently get the nod for this game, although who knows if that will change because anything is possible The loss of Lance McCullers Jr is certainly big right now and the Stros pitching staff is certainly not one to feat either.
The Astros infield has played together in the post-season more than any in the history of the game and the Braves outfield is basically full of new names who just came to the Braves in July. This team has been together through the thick and thin and now they know that 2 wins at home will cork the champagne!
Mike Muchlinski will be working the home plate dish for Game 6, his first start calling balls and strikes in the World Series. Getting to see Max Fried again is also something to look forward to because the dude has been a gas can in the post-season. The Astros lit his ass up for 6 earned in his last start and I fully expect more of the same.
Luis Garcia is also going to get knocked around all over Minute Maid so what you need to do is look at the Over 9 and piss all over it! First of all, this is an obvious elimination game, and as I mentioned these bullpens are both going to get hit again as well. Garcia will walk entirely too many Braves and the base paths will be busy for both teams all night
