Saturday sets up differently. George Kirby gets the ball for Seattle at 9-10 with a 4.19 ERA, while Jeffrey Springs enters 3-13 with a 6.37 ERA for the Athletics.
Springs is the reason I’m willing to lay the extra run instead of paying a heavy moneyline price.
The Oakland lefty has been hit hard lately, posting a 9.05 ERA since June 3. He also allowed 7 earned runs in only 4.2 innings against Baltimore his last time out.
More importantly, Seattle has already seen Springs this season and scored 5 runs, although only 2 were earned, over his 5 innings on May 27. The Mariners won that game 9-1.
