Arizona Diamondbacks
Just like last season, the month of May hasn’t been kind to the Arizona Diamondbacks once again this year. But, that seemed to change after their series sweep of the San Francisco Giants over the weekend. Those three wins were the first in nearly a week for Arizona. They will give the ball to Merrill Kelly in game two of this series, and hope to God that he can go more than 2 innings this time out, as their bullpen is already taxed to the limit, and we aren’t even to June yet.

The D-Backs bats seemed to be dead in the water heading into SF last weekend. Part of that is due to the injury bug that surrounds this team. But when a team can find a way to hang around the .500 mark for two months, there are always players that seem to step up out of nowhere, and the player who needs to be noticed the most is CF Ketel Marte. Marte is having a career year for Arizona, and continues to be the teams unsung hero.
Colorado Rockies
The Rockies took two out of three over the Orioles over the weekend, and will turn to Antonio Senzatela for game two of this series. Senzatela comes in with a 3-4 record, with a 6.21 ERA and 27 strikeouts. The Rockies never know which pitcher they will get when Senzatela toes the rubber, sometimes he’s lights out, and others, it’s as if he’s tossing BP.

To put the Rockies season in perspective: They just played the Orioles, who are the worst team in baseball, and tied them at 25 runs apiece over their three game series. This team just can’t seem to get it going in 2019. They were considered a front runner for the NL West heading into the regular season, but so far have had a hard time staying out of the cellar.
