MLB Reds Predictions & Handicapping Insight
You may question what direction they are taking for the future of their franchise, but they will definitely compete in 2019. They’ll boast one of the best offenses in baseball and they’ll be fun to watch.
Reds fans will be in for a treat and they’ll actually compete for 162 games. They might not win 90 games and they might not have a winning season, but they won’t embarrass themselves and they definitely won’t be boring.

- Matt Kemp
- Yasiel Puig
- Alex Wood
- Sonny Gray
The New York Mets made some noise and some strides in improving their team in 2019. By acquiring Edwin Diaz the New York Mets boast one of the best pitching staffs in all of baseball.
- Billy Hamilton
- Matt Harvey
If this is 2010, the New York Mets will have lost a lot of production, but it’s 2019 and times have changed. The Mets basically improved their team by removing these players. All in all, with their additions and subtractions, the Mets most definitely improved their team.
2019 Cincinnati Reds Predictions: Projected Lineup:
- SS Jose Peraza
- 2B Scooter Gennett
- 1B Joey Votto
- 3B Eugenio Suarez
- LF Matt Kemp
- RF Yasiel Puig
- CF Nick Senzel
- C Tucker Barnhart
This lineup doesn’t even include Scott Schebler and Jesse Winker who will most definitely be productive when they get their turn to hit. When Peraza gets on base he’ll be a force on the bases and then there will be plenty of power behind him.
Gennett has found a home in Cincinnati hitting over twenty home runs the last two years. Votto is a professional hitter that does everything although he’ll look to find that home run swing this year. His OBP was almost higher than his slugging percentage last year.
The book on Suarez was he was a defensive player first, but with Cincinnati he has been a reliable power hitting over twenty home runs the last three years and hitting 30-100 last year.
Newly acquired Puig and Kemp add much more depth to the lineup and this will most definitely be one of the best offenses in all of baseball. You can take that to the bank.
2019 Cincinnati Reds Predictions: Projected Rotation:
- Luis Castillo
- Alex Wood
- Sonny Gray
- Antonio DeSclafani
- Tanner Roark
The Cincinnati Reds rotation was dreadful last year and, on paper, they’ve improved. Alex Wood is a quality arm and the Reds are hoping that Gray can bounce back and return to form.
Matt Harvey sort of bounced back when he came over to the Reds and they’ll most definitely welcome Gray having a season like that this year. Plus, the Reds will be hoping that some of their young arms like Luis Castillo and Anthony DeScalfani can make significant steps into becoming reliable, potential front of the rotation arms.
2019 Cincinnati Reds Predictions: Projected Closer:
- Raisel Iglesias
Raisel Iglesias has been one of the best kept secrets in all of baseball. Iglesias hasn’t made an all-star team, but his ERA has hovered around 2.50 and his ERA+ in the 180’s.
The problem for him is he doesn’t get many opportunities for saves because of how bad the Reds have been. Iglesias finally got to 30 saves last year.
2019 Cincinnati Reds Predictions:
I really like the Cincinnati Reds this year. Now, they aren’t going to win the world series or even win their division, but this will be a spoiler like team all year long and who knows? They may even lead their division after April.
We see it time and time again year after year that unconventional teams lead in April. Eventually, class tells over time, but for now, watch for the Reds early on. They could be one of the more fun stories in 2019.
