2018 MLB Team Previews – San Diego Padres
- National League West +2800
- National League +10000
- World Series +30000
- BRYAN MITCHELL
- FREDDY GALVIS
- ERIC HOSMER
Well Well Well, the San Diego Padres were very busy this past offseason. They were in the final teams in talks with the overseas super star of Ohtani, but even without landing that deal the Padres still landed some big names in the break.
With the power house swing of Hosmer, the defensive skills of Freddy Galvis on shortstop and lastly the starting pitching of Mitchell could cause some unexpected drama in the NL West.
- OF Jabari Blash
The Padres did not loss that much in the offseason as their only main loss was the trade deal for their new shortstop. Their OF minor player ended up being on the Los Angeles Angels as the Padres mostly used money to fix up the lineup this offseason.
Padres Predictions: Projected Lineup:
- OF Manual Margot
- 3B Chase Headley
- OF Will Myers
- 1B Eric Hosmer
- OF Jose Pirela
- C Austin Hedges
- SS Freddy Galvis
- 2B Carlos Asuaje
Welcome to the new and improved lineup of the San Diego Padres. Of course young standout Will Myers will lead the way for the Padres, however new players Hosmer, and Headley will get their shot of making some history in San Diego. The Padres are slowly getting better.
Padres Predictions: Projected Rotation:
- LH Clayton Richard
- RH Dinelson Lamet
- RH Luis Perdomo
- RH Bryan Mitchell
- LH Tyson Ross
One of the weakest links of the San Diego Padres, is the amount of star quality pitching they have on their rotation. It is nothing special but they are able to win games from time to time.
Padres Predictions: Projected Closer:
- LH Brad Hand
One of the most underrated pitchers in the MLB, Brad is ready to lock in his role as the closer for the Padres.
Back-to-back seasons with more than 100 strikeouts makes Hand an elite relief pitcher. This season he becomes an elite closer
2018 San Diego Padres Prediction:
The front office has not really assured fans that the team is heading into the right direction faster than some fans want. This team could take years to gel into something special, or it could take a half a season. A lot of questions are still up in the air for the Padres.
The only problem that faces them is the very competitive division in which I see them struggling from the start. Small steps for San Diego as they will finish with a record of 72-90 and last in the NL West.
