It all comes down to this in the Western Conference, and there is really no surprise as the number two seed San Antonio Spurs travel to Oakland to take on the first seeded juggernaut that is the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors are heavy favorites going into this series for good reason, but people should have learned by now to never count out the Spurs.
San Antonio faced a difficult road on the way to the Western Conference Finals, going through two six-games series against two tough teams. The Memphis Grizzlies surprised many people by taking the 60-win Spurs to six, but the Houston Rockets actually disappointed some by being eliminated and embarrassed at home in Game 6.
The Golden State Warriors essentially cruised their way through to the conference finals, as most experts expected.

They are 8-0 in postseason play heading into this one, after sweeping the Portland Trail Blazers in Round 1 and then doing the same to the Utah Jazz in the conference semifinals.
San Antonio Spurs
It has been tough to get a read on the San Antonio Spurs through this postseason. More than anything else, people can usually depend on consistency from the Spurs, but that has not been the case this year.
The Spurs began the 2016-17 playoffs in their usual fashion, dominated the Memphis Grizzlies at home for the first two games, but the Grizz refused to be “rooked.” Memphis roared back to even the series at two games a piece, but the Spurs came back to life and won the next two.

Their second-round series against the Houston Rockets was where things really began to be troubling. The Spurs were beaten down in San Antonio in Game 1, losing 126-99. They reversed the script and blew out the Rockets for the next two games, but lost Tony Parker to injury along the way.
Kawhi Leonard was also banged up in Game 5 and missed all of Game 6. Luckily for the Spurs, the Rockets decided not to show up at all in that game, and San Antonio cruised through to a 114-75 win in Houston without Leonard or Parker. Leonard is expected to return for Game 1 of this series, and he leads the Spurs in points (27.8), assists (4.7) and steals (1.73) in the postseason.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors, on the other hand, had no surprises in the first two rounds, and they did exactly what we expected them to do. Golden State cruised through their first round match against the Portland Trail Blazers, winning four straight and three of them by double-digits.
The Utah Jazz presented about the same level of difficulty, and the Warriors swept through the second round just as easily. With only Gordon Hayward as any kind of offensive threat, the Jazz stood no chance against Golden State, and the Warriors won all four of their second round games by double-digits.

The one potential weak spot on this team is in coaching. Head coach Steve Kerr has missed most of the postseason, and it is unclear if he will return for this series. However, interim coach Mike Brown is no rookie, and so far there has been no real sign of change.
Stephen Curry leads the way with 27.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and six assists in the playoffs. Kevin Durant missed two games with a slight injury, but he seems fine at this point and has contributed 23.3 points and 8.2 rebounds in the six games he has played.
Free San Antonio Spurs vs. Golden State Warriors NBA Series Prediction:
The Warriors are obvious favorites in this series, and for good reason. There seems to be no weak spot on this roster as long as everyone stays healthy. However, this is the first time they have faced the Spurs in the playoffs since 2013, and the Warriors were certainly not the Warriors as we know them now at that point.
That means they will certainly be in for more of a fight than many people expect. Especially if Steve Kerr (a former assistant under Spurs coach Gregg Popovich) cannot return, the Spurs will definitely have a coaching advantage. Even though I do expect the Warriors to move on, you can bet that Pop, Leonard, Aldridge and the boys will not go down without a fight.
The Spurs also won three of four meetings against the Warriors in the regular season, although some Kerr played the “sitting my starters” game for one of those. You can take the Warriors to sweep if you like, but I learned my lesson many years ago about throwing money away by betting against Gregg Popovich and the Spurs.
