Where Do Teams Stand in MLB?
After some MLB Power Rankings? Here our August 19th edition. The 2017 Regular Season is winding down, and as teams are battling for playoff positioning here is our updated power rankings.
2017 MLB Power Rankings
So where does your favorite team sit as the 2017 MLB Regular Season winds down? Let’s break it down in this edition of Cappers Picks Power Rankings.
1. Los Angeles Dodgers (86-34)
This one doesn’t need much explaining, the Dodgers are the best team in baseball, and it’s really not even close. They have the power and the pitching to make it all the way to the World Series.
In their last ten games they have a 8-2 record. It doesn’t really seem to matter who they play they don’t lose series against teams.
2. Washington Nationals (72-47)
The Washington Nationals lost Bryce Harper to a bone bruise, but they are still winning games. The offense isn’t playing as well without Harper in it, but when he gets back, that offense should continue to roll.
The one that has really looked good in the last couple weeks has been the pitching. If the pitching continues to stay hot, this team could give the Dodgers a run for their money.
3. Houston Astros (75-47)
The first American League team comes in at number three in our rankings, and that team is the Houston Astros.

They are dealing with some injuries right now, but if they can get healthy before the playoffs, they are going to be hard to beat in the American League side of the playoffs.
4. Boston Red Sox (70-51)
The Boston Red Sox comes into our rankings at number four. They have played a tough schedule the last couple of weeks and it hasn’t hurt them one bit.
They are currently 8-2 in their last ten games.
5. Cleveland Indians (67-53)
The Cleveland Indians seem to really be hitting their stride at the right time. They are getting good pitching led by Corey Kluber, and the bats are finally really starting to wake up.
This team is ready to make some noise come playoff time.
6. New York Yankees (65-56)
Now the New York Yankees don’t have the best record, but they look like a team that could really have some success this last month of the season.
They are coming into the weekend series with the Red Sox off a four game sweep of the Mets.
7. Colorado Rockies (68-54)
The Colorado Rockies have had a nice season so far, but they come into this game struggling having lost six of the last ten and if the fall continues they could fall lower.
When it comes playoff times this team might really struggle because they won’t have home field advantage and have struggled on the road this year.
8. Arizona Diamondbacks (68-54)
The Arizona Diamondbacks also come into this game struggling, but they played a really tough schedule against the Dodgers, Cubs and Astros. They are still in great shape to make the playoffs.
9. Chicago Cubs (64-57)
The Cubs are having all kinds of injury issues and it might catch up to them soon. The latest to go on the DL is Jon Lester and they aren’t sure if the will get him back this season.
But right now this team continues to win, and they are the defending World Series champs, so that has to give them some sort of advantage.

This team still has all kinds of power through out the lineup and that is what will need to carry them through.
10. Los Angeles Angels (62-60)
The Los Angeles Angels have kind of quietly gone about their business, but they are right their now in the thick of the playoff race, currently tied for the second wild card spot.
They have gone 7-3 in their last ten games.
