HANDICAPPING MLB PROPS
Hey there! Have you stopped by CappersPicks.com today looking for 2020 MLB Hitting 20 Home Run Prop Betting Odds & Free Picks? Congratulations, you’re in the right place! We’re here to help you figure out who will lead the Majors in 2020. With Opening Day scheduled for next Thursday, our recommended Sportsbooks have posted a series of short season specials, including prices on some of the game’s biggest sluggers hitting 20 home runs in 60 games.
MLB Predictions – 2020 Handicapping Insight
Players hit more home runs last season than any other. The Twins set a new team record immediately after the Yankees set one the season before.
Watchers have speculated about the ball whether MLB will make changes to it in an attempt to limit how often it flies into the empty bleachers this season. It’s the biggest potential deterrent to any slugger’s chance to hit 20 in 2020.
Skipping the colder weather months should work in the home run hitters’ favor, however. Statistically, April is the month with the fewest home runs each season. Starting this season in the heat of summer may accelerate the home run pace.
Twenty home runs in 60 games translates to 54 home runs in 162 games. In record-setting 2019, Pete Alonso led the league with 53. Of course, a smaller sample size increases the possibility of such a pace.
2020 MLB Hitting 20 Home Run Prop Betting Odds: Cody Bellinger +400
Bellinger hit 47 home runs in 156 games in winning his first National League MVP in 2019. Nearly a third of those homes came against the Diamondbacks and Rockies, which he will see even more often in 2020.
He had only two big league seasons under his belt coming into last season and with some pressure on him after a bit of a sophomore slump. He comes into this season completely healthy and in the early years of his prime.
He also has Mookie Betts hitting at the top of the lineup and the added advantage of a DH in the NL, which will keep him fresher over the long-term and turn the Dodgers’ lineup over even more. Buy him to reach 20 at this price.
2020 MLB Hitting 20 Home Run Prop Betting Odds: Giancarlo Stanton +300
Stanton won’t have the added advantage of getting to DH more games than he would have in a typical season. He will, however, not miss the start of the season, as he would have had the games started in April.
His calf reportedly feels ok and the man who hit 59 home runs three seasons ago will look to rebound from playing just 18 games in 2019.
But the possibility of injury for a player who has had all sorts of issues with muscle pulls over his career is just too high for me to make this play in a shortened season. One small tweak all but ends Stanton’s push for 20 in such a short timeframe.
2020 MLB Hitting 20 Home Run Prop Betting Odds: Mike Trout +300
Trout still hasn’t announced he will definitely play this season. His wife is expecting their first child and he has expressed concern about his family’s health.
It would be a seismic decision not to play this season but the possibility of him not playing or even missing just a string of games makes this price simply too high.
2020 MLB Hitting 20 Home Run Prop Betting Odds: Pete Alonso +250
In addition to playing the NL East 40 times, the Mets will play 20 games against the AL East. Alonso will enjoy hitting in some of those cozy ballparks.
The price feels fair on the reigning NL Rookie of the Year but not something that I’m going to jump on. He may not find things as easy as he looked to have found them as a rookie.
2020 MLB Hitting 20 Home Run Prop Betting Odds: Joey Gallo +425
I wrote about Gallo as a strong buy in MVP markets and home run markets way back when we weren’t sure how long of a season we would get (in truth, we still don’t know but we do have a framework to go on now).
He tested positive for coronavirus and had to miss the first two weeks of the Rangers’ camp, which has him a bit behind where he would like at this point in the second preseason.
He also tested negative multiple times at the same time and never felt any symptoms of the virus. His health should not be a concern. He’s got a couple weeks to get up to speed and will begin the season in the Texas heat with a clean bill of health, which is more important than anything else.
