Let’s break down the top teams of this tournament and see where the value lies.
[table id=30 /]
Dominican Republic +275
The Dominican Republic sit as co favorites and rightfully so. Top to bottom the Dominicans have one of the best rosters and will cause plenty of issues for teams here.
Looking at their offense, you can pick any position and find a hitter that either hits for a high average, or hits for massive power.
From Blue Jays power hitter Jose Bautista to Adrian Beltre and Manny Machado, the offense is going to produce massive amounts of runs.
Pitching wise, Giants ace Johnny Cueto will headline the staff, while Yankees ace Dellin Betances will lead a very impressive bullpen.

The World Baseball Classic Title goes through the Dominican Republic this year.
United States +275
If there’s one team that can match the power of the Dominicans, it’s the United State.
The USA features one of the most talented OF cores as they will put out Adam Jones, Andrew McCutchen, and Giancarlo Stanton.
It’ll be interesting to see what the United States will do with their pitching staff. They have plenty of talented relievers, one of which is the Indians’ Andrew Miller. The tall lefty was a crucial part of the Indians postseason run last year and has the ability to come in during any inning.
As far as starters go, this is where it gets interesting. With Chris Archer and an interesting group in the designated pitchers pool, there is a lot of different directions this team can go in.
Japan +300
Japan has plenty of players you likely haven’t heard of.
In fact, they will likely feature just one MLB player in Norichika Aoki.
However, don’t think this team doesn’t have plenty of talent to go around. Japan opens as near favorites and rightfully so. They are a team that will manufacture runs and really make you string together hits to score on them.
Give this team a lead and you’re in trouble.
Venezuela +1500
Venezuela has a sneaky good roster that has a lot of value at this number.
Headlined by Miguel Cabrera offensively, this team has some power to lean on. Along with Miggy, you’ll see a heavy dosage of Jose Altuve and Victor Martinez.
Pitching wise, it will be the Kings Court leading the way. Felix Hernandez will have to lead the way for them here and will have a lot of say in whether this team succeeds or not.
Puerto Rico +2000
A few top names will be featured on the Puerto Rico roster as Francisco Lindor and Carlos Beltran will be asked to provide the offensive spark.

Where this team will find it’s issues is in the pitching categories.
Puerto Rico’s pitching staff does not feature any sort of star top to bottom, nor does it have any reliable arms to lean on. They’ll have to rely on a young core along with some veterans who have been around a while, but never made a big splash in the MLB.
It’ll take a lot for this team to keep the top offenses in the tournament down, but their offense does have a chance to bail them out and help keep the pressure on with scoring.
