Handicapping 2018 NBA Gambling Future Lines
So which player is going to be the one winning the award when the season is done?
Below I will highlight a couple of the favorites, and a long shot that could come through and win the award.
2017 NBA MVP Handicapping Odds: Kawhi Leonard (+400)
Kawhi Leonard is probably the best two way player in the NBA and it’s really no surprise that he comes into this season as the favorite to win the MVP.
For Leonard though it’s probably not about how well he does, but more about how the San Antonio Spurs do. They are probably going to need to be a top two seed for him to any chance to win this.
The other thing that worries me with him this year is he is already dealing with a quad injury and is expected to miss the first couple of games.
If he is to miss any large amount of time this year, his chances are going to be in trouble.
2017 NBA MVP Handicapping Odds: LeBron James (+400)
LeBron James comes into this season with the second best odds to win the MVP, but lets be clear about something, he probably should be named the league MVP every year, it just seems a lot of the time the voters get tired of voting for the same person year after year.
The Cavaliers have surrounded him with more pieces this year, but it’s going to take another special year by LeBron to get back to the NBA Finals.
I think LeBron will put up the best numbers in the league, but the voters won’t vote for him, and at this price I would probably stay away from him.
2017 NBA MVP Handicapping Odds: Joel Embiid (+2500)
Joel Embiid has the talent no question to be the MVP, but the big question is will his body hold up to allow him to do that.
Last year Embiid averaged 20.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game last year in limited minutes. The big problem though was he only played 31 games.
At this price though, I think throwing a few bucks on him might be a smart play.
2017 NBA MVP Handicapping Odds: Devin Booker (+25000)
Devin Booker has all the makings of a star in this league, but he really needs the Suns to take the next step forward if he wants to win this award as a long shot.
Last year he averaged over 22 points, three rebounds and three assists per game last year. If the Suns could finish in the top eight or nine of the Western Conference, he has a real shot.
