The Canadiens of Montreal are staying in Florida and heading to South Florida to take on the Panthers.
The Panthers, fresh off a game against Toronto, will look to take care of Shea Weber and the top team in the Atlantic Division.
Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens haven’t been the most consistent in the month of December. This month, Montreal is 5-4-2 and has played some fantastic games and some poor games. After a 10-1 drubbing of the Colorado Avalanche, Montreal lost the next two games, a 2-1 OT loss to Boston and a 4-2 loss to San Jose.
Two more solid wins were followed by two more losses against Minnesota and then Columbus. Back from the holiday break, Montreal will look to get back to its winning ways and take care of these Florida teams.
Left winger Max Pacioretti has been wonderful for the Canadiens this year, posting 13 goals and 14 assists thus far. In his last five, he has two goals and an assist.
The Canadiens will look to fight through some tough injuries to center Alex Galchenyuk, who is out for at least another month, and Andrei Markov, who is out with no timetable for return.

Florida Panthers
The minus-12 goal differential is the first thing you can use to explain the season-long woes of the Florida Panthers. Along with that, injuries and roster and front office changes, have made it extremely difficult for the Panthers after what was their franchise-best season last year.
According to head coach Tom Rowe, the team is still six weeks away from the return of Jonathan Huberdeau and will be trying anything and everything to stay in the playoff hunt for when he gets back to full strength.
The last five games have been tough for even the top players on the Panthers. Jon Marchessault has zero goals in the last five and Vincent Trocheck has just one goal. It hasn’t been easy of fun for this team and you have to wonder if the head coaching shake-up has only lessened the team morale further.

With how good this Montreal offense can be, and how poor the Panthers defense can be, this game could easily get out of hand and turn into a blowout. If Florida wants to stay in this game and have a shot at a win, they will need to limit Montreal’s weapons and find someone who can score.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Montreal is 5-0 ATS in last five games on the road
- Florida is 2-4 ATS in its last six games
Free Montreal Canadiens vs. Florida Panthers NHL Hockey Prediction:
Montreal, despite an inconsistent December, can be so good when they get in the offensive zone. Florida won’t have a lot of scoring chances on Thursday night and Montreal has the prowess to capitalize near the net. Montreal gets the W.
