On the second night of a back-to-back after a game against Tampa Bay, the Minnesota Wild continue a road-trip and head further south in Florida to take on the Panthers.
Florida, with losses in six of the last seven games, are seeing its playoff hopes slip further and further out of reach. The team needs to win and win often and it’ll need to start against the Wild.
Normally one of the best offenses in the NHL, the Minnesota Wild have struggled in the scoring department recently. The team has just five total goals over the last three games and has lost two of those games.
One wouldn’t think this would become a trend but the team needs to get back on track in order to retain that top spot in the Central Division.
Never count out this offense, the 3rd best in the league in goals scored, with 213 goals on the year.
The Wild have so many skaters who can score and score often. Mikael Granlund leads the team with 21 goals, while also putting up 39 assists. Over his last five, he has two goals and three assists.
Let’s not forget about everything the team does on defense, especially from a goaltending perspective. Goalie Devan Dubnyk has been brilliant in between the pipes, posting a 35-13-3 record with a 2.01 goals against average.
With losses in six of the last seven games, it’s looking like the season of twists and turns is finally catching up with the team despite being at full strength.
The Panthers haven’t looked good on either side of the ice, giving up 21 goals in the last seven games while only scoring 13.
In no way has this been the season the Panthers expected but one would think that, with guys like Huberdeau and Barkov back in the lineup, this team would be winning and making a push for the playoffs.
Jonathan Huberdeau has looked good since coming back from injury. He has 12 points in his 14 games this season (5G, 7A) including a goal and two assists over his last five games.
Aleksander Barkov has struggled in this recent stretch, however. He has contributed two assists but doesn’t have a single goal over his last five games. He has 16 goals and 23 assists for the year.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Minnesota is 14-2 ATS in the last 16 games on the road
- Florida is 1-6 SU in the last seven games
Free Minnesota Wild vs. Florida Panthers NHL Hockey Prediction:
Florida has lost six of the last seven games and has had a tough time scoring despite being pretty much full strength. Minnesota should get the W here considering the recent poor play of Florida.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Minnesota ATS
Minnesota plays much better hockey on both sides of the ice and that should show here against a Florida team that can’t get things figured out on either side of the ice.
Minnesota should cover the spread in this one.
