Coming off a 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens, the Dallas Stars will head to Boston to take on the Bruins on Thursday night.
Boston will look for a third straight win when the Stars come to town and the Bruins will look to finish strong as the playoffs draw closer and closer.
Dallas Stars
Sitting 6th in the Central Division, the playoff hopes of the Dallas Stars are all but over at this point. The team has struggled all season, especially on the defense and goaltending side of things. The Stars rank 27th in the NHL in goals against, giving up 3.18 goals per game.
The goaltending has suffered from the poor defense as well but neither netminder has helped things. Antti Niemi is 11-11-4 with a 3.35 goals against average, while Kari Lehtonen is 20-23-7 with a 2.81 GAA. The presence in goal simply hasn’t been there for Dallas.

Offensively, the team hasn’t been great either. The Stars rank 17th in the league in goals, averaging 2.72 per game. The scoring has been led by Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn, both of whom have 25 goals.
Seguin leads the team in points with 70 (25G, 45A) and he has a goal and an assist over his last five games. Benn has 67 points (25G, 42) including a goal and three assists over his last five.
Boston Bruins
At 14-7-0 under Bruce Cassidy, the Boston Bruins have been a much better team since making the coaching change. The offense has been more consistent, the defense and goaltending have been stronger, and the Bruins are in position to make the playoffs.
The team ranks 12th in the NHL in both goals and goals against. The Bruins have a plus-15 goal differential on the season, a stat that wasn’t looking so positive a couple of months ago.

The offense has improved thanks to the fantastic play of Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak. Marchand has 37 goals and 44 assists, including two assists over his last five games.
Pastrnak has 32 goals and 33 assists in 69 games this season, including a goal and an assist over his last five games.
The goaltending has been stronger in this second half of the year as well. Starter Tuukka Rask is 34-20-4 with a 2.35 goals against average and a .910 save percentage.

Free Dallas Stars vs. Boston Bruins NHL Hockey Prediction:
Dallas has been one of the league’s worst defenses and the team has suffered because of it. Against a Boston team with plenty of scorers, this won’t be an easy one for the Stars. Boston should grab the W in this one.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Boston ATS
Dallas struggles to defend against even mediocre offenses, let alone an offense that includes Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak. If those skaters get going for the Bruins, the team should cover the spread
