Today we see a matchup between two very offensively capable teams in the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Colorado Avalanche.
On top of being a matchup between two competitive teams, this is also the first game between Nathan Mackinnon and Sidney Crosby this year. The two are good friends and spend the offseason working out together.

Looking at this one I think the Colorado Avalanche will come out of this one with the win and stay undefeated.
Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche are undefeated to start the year and just put up 6 goals against the Washington Capitals. Their top line has been producing as expected and Cale Makar has been a nice young player for them on their top PP.
Nazem Kadri has also been a productive forward for them which is exactly what the Avalanche front office had in mind when they shipped out Tyson Barrie to acquire him. If he can play against the Crosby line and produce the Avs could run away with this game.

Grubauer is 4-0-0 so far this season with a .925 save percentage. With an offense as capable as the one the Avalanche possess, this team is going to win a lot of games if they can continue getting similar numbers out of their new number one goalie.
The Avalanche are missing J.T. Compher but their lineup is otherwise fully healthy.
Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins have put up 7 goals in each of their last two games and Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel seem to be finding their groove. That line is going to need to come up strong tonight as they find themselves up against an Avalanche team that is very deep.
The Penguins are in a bit of an injury crunch, as they will be without Alex Galchenyuk, Evgeni Malkin, Nick Bjugstad, and Byran Rust. Long story short, that’s a lot of offense to be missing.
Matt Murray has been solid to start the year. If he draws the start tonight the Penguins may need his best performance of the season to come away with a win.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Avalanche are 8-0 in their last 8 games following a win.
- Avalanche are 6-0 in their last 6 vs. Eastern Conference.
- Avalanche are 40-16 in their last 56 overall.
- Avalanche are 19-7 in their last 26 home games.
- Penguins are 1-4 in their last 5 games as a favorite of -110 to -150.
