The Washington Football Team will be traveling to Detroit to take on the Lions at Ford Field in Week 10 of the NFL season. It’s a matchup between two teams that are under .500 and are both coming off of a loss.
The Lions took the L against the Vikings their last time out 34-20, while the Washington Football team fell a little short against the Giants 23-20.
Washington Football Team
Washington comes into this game at Detroit with a 2-6 record and currently are two games back of the Eagles for the top spot in the NFC East. Head Coach Ron Rivera will now be without starting quarterback Kyle Allen for the rest of the season after suffering an ankle injury in the first quarter of last Sunday’s game. The Football will turn to Alex Smith in Allen’s absence as coach Rivera still doesn’t see Dwayne Haskins fit for the position.
Alex Smith has been a wonderful comeback story since suffering his devastating leg injury almost two years ago. Smith hasn’t been great in the limited playing time that he has seen, but you have to assume it’s going to take a little bit for him to get his legs underneath him (no pun intended).
He has yet to start a game this season but has come in relief in two appearances for Washington. In the two games, Alex has completed 30 of 49 passes for 362 yards to go along with one touchdown and three interceptions.

The Football team needs to give rookie running back Antonio Gibson more touches as he is showing a lot of skill in these past few games. Gibson leads the team with 4.3 yards per carry and is one the best pass-catching running backs in the league with 8.3 yards per reception out of the backfield.
Detroit Lions
Detroit had a scare halfway through the Viking’s game when Matt Stafford left the game and didn’t return thanks to a high hit to the head. Chase Daniel had to finish the game and almost led the Lions to a come from behind victory as he threw for two touchdowns in the final quarter. Matt Patricia is hopeful that Stafford should be good to go for this game on Sunday, so look out for that news.
Stafford is probably having his best season since 2017 as he has dealt with injuries over the past year and a half. He has completed 174 of 278 passes for 2127 yards to go along with his 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The Lions will be without their star wideout Kenny Golladay though has he was placed on IR last week after suffering a hip injury against the Colts. Golladay already missed the first two games of the season due to injury and he’s going to be a big loss moving forward.
He was second on the team in receiving yards and that is with only playing five games this season. It looks like it’s going to be Marvin Hall and Marvin Jones moving forward splitting the role Golladay played, so buy stock in them now.
Defensively, the Lions got a buff last week when they added Everson Griffen to the active roster. Griffen didn’t play too big of a role against his former team in the Vikings because he saw limited snaps with having to learn a new playbook.
Look for him to play a bigger role in Sunday’s game against Washington because the key to defeating Alex Smith is putting pressure on him.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Detroit -3.5
I think that the Lions are the right play in this game. Detroit has lost two games in a row and has yet to win a home game this season, but this Washington Team is just in shambles.
They are using their third starting quarterback who is practically playing with one leg out there. Even though it’s a great story that Alex Smith is back and playing, he’s just can’t cut it as an NFL QB anymore with the need for mobility at the position.
The Lions should be able to roll over the Football Team if Matt Stafford is good to go, so definitely be on the lookout for that news before placing a bet on this game. Give me Detroit -3.5 if Matt Stafford is starting, but take the under 46.5 if Chase Daniel is forced to start this one.
