The 2-2 Titans enter this contest following a road game against the Colts where they matched their point total from the previous week and came away with their 2nd consecutive win.
Washington is 1-3 following a Week 1 win against the Jaguars and have been on a 3 week slide ever since. Their last 2 losses saw them being outscored by at least 15 points in each game.
Tennessee Titans
Tennessee has picked up their game over the past two weeks with wins over the already mentioned Colts and the Raiders the week before that. They’ve been able to put up back-to-back 24 point games which is a positive outlook considering they were defeated 41-7 in Week 2 by Buffalo.
They’ve rebounded from that game and so has Derrick Henry who started off slow through the first three weeks. After running for less than 100 through Week 3, he broke out for 114 yards on 22 attempts and scored 1 touchdown.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill hasn’t been amazing and he won’t have to be since they’re playing against a Washington defence that allows 4.4 yards per carry against. So he can let Henry do his thing and add to his 306 yards and 3 touchdowns on the year.
The key for the Titans over their 2 wins has been to score early and sit back on the lead. In both wins, they put up their 24 points before half-time and then let their defence do the work. Now, that may work against a lowly team like the Commanders but you’re going to need to be able to score in the final two quarters if you want to go anywhere in this league.
Washington Commanders
They’re averaging 18.3 points on the season but are giving up 26.8 on defence.
A key stat is that, through this season, they have been conceding 112.0 rushing yards. With a running back like Derrick Henry staring you down, Washington may be a candidate to get run over.
Behind center we’ll see Carson Wentz who has been left high and dry on most nights. In the past four games, he’s been sacked 17 times and we saw 9 of those come against the Eagles in Week 3. Wentz is second in interceptions with 5 and is 25th in QBR.
The Commanders will also be without key wide receiver Jahan Dotson who leads the team with 4 touchdowns on just 12 receptions.
