Titans vs. Giants Gameday
Tennessee hits the road for the first time this season Sunday, visiting the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. The Titans are 0-2 under Robert Saleh, while John Harbaugh’s Giants return home at 1-1 after a rough Monday night in Los Angeles.
Tennessee opened with a 23-10 loss to the Jets before giving Philadelphia considerably more trouble in Week 2. The Titans led for much of the afternoon and were still ahead in the final minute before Jalen Hurts directed the Eagles to a 24-20 win.
Tennessee finally gets a road game, and MetLife apparently decided one New York visit wasn’t enough.
The Giants beat Dallas 28-20 in their opener, then lost 28-6 to the Rams. More importantly, starting quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a knee injury on the opening drive and will miss the remainder of the regular season.

That puts Jameis Winston behind center Sunday. New York has the short week, Tennessee has a few familiar faces returning to MetLife, and suddenly this matchup looks considerably different than it did before Monday night.
Tennessee Titans vs. New York Giants Odds & Last 5
New York is a 2.5-point home favorite, with Tennessee around +125 on the moneyline and the Giants roughly -150. The total sits at 39.5 after dropping substantially following Dart’s injury.
Neither offense has exactly worn out the scoreboard operator.
Tennessee scored 10 against the Jets and 20 against Philadelphia, improving from 195 total yards in Week 1 to 291 in Week 2. Ward and the Titans had a legitimate chance to beat the Eagles before Hurts’ winning touchdown pass with nine seconds remaining.
New York scored 28 in its opener but managed only six against the Rams. Dart was injured on the seventh offensive play, leaving Winston to finish the night against a Los Angeles defense that never allowed the Giants to get comfortable.
The Giants lead the regular-season series 7-6 and won the most recent meeting 21-20 in Tennessee in 2022. The Titans, however, have won their last two trips to face the Giants, including a 17-0 victory at MetLife in 2018.

Giants Stats
New York has produced 576 offensive yards through two games while averaging 17 points. The Giants were much better in their 28-point opener than Monday night, when Los Angeles held them to 182 yards and six points.
Dart completed 26 of 34 passes for 250 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions before the knee injury ended his regular season. All three touchdown passes came against Dallas, along with 54 rushing yards.
Winston now inherits the offense.
He completed 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards with no touchdowns and one interception against the Rams. It wasn’t exactly a warm-up lap, but he’ll get a full week of first-team preparation before facing Tennessee.
Cam Skattebo leads New York with 117 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Isaiah Likely has 13 catches for 111 yards and two scores. Malik Nabers has seven receptions for 70 yards and was upgraded to a full practice participant Thursday after dealing with a shoulder injury.
Defensively, New York has allowed 725 yards and 48 points.
Jevón Holland already has two interceptions, including one in each game. The Giants gave up 327 passing yards and four touchdowns to Matthew Stafford last week, while Brian Burns missed Wednesday’s practice with an ankle injury.
Titans Stats
Tennessee is averaging 15 points and 243 offensive yards through two games. Those aren’t numbers worth framing, but the Titans showed considerably more life against Philadelphia after managing only 195 yards against the Jets.
The Titans are still searching for win No. 1, but Week 2 finally provided something resembling an offense.
Cam Ward has completed 32 of 52 passes for 323 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. He also ran for two touchdowns against Philadelphia and has now gone six consecutive games without throwing an interception dating to last season.
The running game helped Tennessee stay competitive against the Eagles.
Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears combined for 105 rushing yards on 21 carries, although both appeared on this week’s injury report. Pollard returned to limited work Thursday with an ankle injury, while Spears remained out with his own ankle issue.
Elic Ayomanor leads Tennessee with 80 receiving yards and the team’s only receiving touchdown. Ward hasn’t produced many explosive throws yet, but keeping the ball away from the other team has at least prevented the rookie quarterback from compounding Tennessee’s offensive problems.
The defense created two interceptions against Philadelphia.
Amani Hooker and Marcus Harris both picked off Hurts, while Jeffery Simmons recorded a sack and seven quarterback pressures. Tennessee has allowed 47 points through two games, but Philadelphia needed a touchdown in the final seconds to escape Nashville.
There are other injuries to monitor.
Daniel Bellinger and Solomon Thomas missed Thursday’s practice, while Cor’Dale Flott remained limited. With Pollard improving but Spears still sidelined, Tennessee’s backfield status deserves attention heading into Sunday.
Titans vs. Giants QB Matchup
Jameis Winston gets his first start of the season after Dart’s knee injury changed New York’s plans in a hurry. The veteran has 89 career starts, so the Giants aren’t throwing an inexperienced quarterback into the fire.
His relief appearance against the Rams was ugly.
Winston completed 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards with an interception and was sacked twice. A full week to prepare should help, but New York is rebuilding its game plan around him on a short week.
Ward enters his first road start having protected the football well.
The Titans quarterback is 32 of 52 for 323 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. He took a step forward against Philadelphia, completing 13 of 20 passes for 183 yards while adding two rushing touchdowns.

Ward now gets a Giants defense that Stafford attacked for 327 passing yards Monday night.
New York’s pass rush can still make life uncomfortable, especially if Burns returns, but the secondary hasn’t exactly slammed the door through two weeks. Ward doesn’t need to chase explosives on every possession to keep Tennessee competitive.
Winston has the experience advantage.

Here is my Titans Giants free pick: I’m taking Titans +2.5. The Giants were laying considerably more before Jaxson Dart’s knee injury, and asking Jameis Winston to immediately stabilize an offense that scored six points Monday night isn’t something I’m eager to pay for.
Tennessee is 0-2, but there was progress against Philadelphia. Cam Ward threw for 183 yards without an interception, ran for two touchdowns and had the Titans leading until the final nine seconds.
Getting points against a backup quarterback makes Tennessee considerably more interesting than its 0-2 record suggests.
There’s also a matchup for Ward to attack. The Giants allowed Matthew Stafford to throw for 327 yards and four touchdowns Monday, and their defense has surrendered 725 yards through two games. New York is also dealing with injuries on that side of the ball.
I’m not asking Ward to turn into Mahomes here. Protect the football, let Tennessee run it enough to stay out of obvious passing downs, and make Winston beat you in his first start of the season.
In a game carrying a total around 39.5, those 2.5 points matter plenty.
