A very important Sunday Night game here as we get the Packers and the Titans. The Titans are still pushing for an AFC South title and are currently tied with the Indianapolis Colts.
The Green Bay Packers have long clinched their division, the NFC North, but are eying that all-important number one seed. For those that may not know, with their being an extra Wild Card team this season, only the top seed gets a bye week.
Tennessee Titans
The Titans are coming off a blowout win against Detroit last week to remain in the hunt for the AFC South. They have a much tougher task this week, which will be beating Aaron Rodgers in the freezing cold. Luckily, the Titans have a man named Derrick Henry, who is having another monster season. Henry ran for 147 yards against Detroit and provided two touchdowns. He had 24 carries too, which means he averaged 6.1 yards per carry. Ryan Tannehill was great too, but did not have to do all that much to secure the win.
The Titans’ offense ranks 2nd in total yards, 19th in passing yards and 2nd in rushing yards. They are also the top scoring offense, averaging 31.1 points per game.
Defensively, the Titans rank 27th in total defense, 29th in passing defense and 15th in rushing defense. This is where the problem will be in defending Rodgers. The Titans also allow about 25 points per game, which is not great.
Green Bay Packers
Green Bay is coming off a hard fought win against the Carolina Panthers. This game was played on a Saturday night, so they have had one extra day to prepare. The Packers know they cannot afford to lose with the number one up for grabs. They clearly will want home field advantage, so their opponents have to deal with the cold.
The Packers rank 4th in total offense, 8th in passing offense and 8th in rushing offense. They also score 31 points per game, which is good for the 3rd best scoring offense. The Packers might even have the most balanced offense in the league with those top 10 ranks in basically every category.
The Packers’ defense have been off an on this season, but fall as an above average unit. They rank 8th in total yards allowed, 9th in passing yards and 11th in rushing yards. Though even this defense is going to have a tough time slowing down Henry.
