An NFC South showdown in going down in Carolina as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are visiting them for Week 10 of the NFL Season. The Bucs are coming off a brutal loss to the Saints, while Carolina came up just short against the Chiefs in their last bout.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Only a week ago the Buccaneers were riding high atop of the NFC South and were about to add the best receiver from the 2010s to their roster, but now they find themselves sitting in second after a crushing 38-3 loss. The 35-point loss was the biggest margin of victory for an opposing team in Tom Brady’s career.
In Tom Brady’s career off of a loss, he is 21-6 ATS and 25-2 straight up. If that loss happens to be by double-digit he’s even better with a 9-1 ATS record and an 8-2 straight up record.
The word embarrassing doesn’t do the loss justice as Brady made mistake after mistake. He threw for zero touchdowns and three interceptions against a very weak Saint’s secondary. Bruce Arians was not afraid to point the finger at his quarterback after the loss and said Tom needs to be better.
Arian’s also said that he was going to cut down Antonio Brown’s snap percentage and give him fewer targets in the game.
Defensively, the Buccs have been one of the best three teams in the NFL according to DVOA. Tampa is surrendering 22.6 points per game which is good for 9th in the league. Veteran Jason Pierre-Paul is the captain of the defense and is also the leader in sacks for the Bucs. Pierre Paul has 6.5 sacks coming into the game on Sunday and that is good for third in the league amongst defensive players.
The Panthers are coming off an absolute stunner of a game where they went toe-to-toe with the Chiefs and had a last-second chance to grab the victory, but couldn’t cash in. Joey Slye had an attempt at a game-winning field goal as time was expiring, but he didn’t have enough juice to get it through the goalposts.
It was nice while it lasted, but Christian McCaffery has returned to the IR for the second time this season after coming back for one game and is most likely out for the rest of the year. He rushed for 69 yards and hauled in 10 receptions for 82 yards for two total touchdowns in a 33-31 loss to the Chiefs.
So it looks like it’s back to The Mike Davis show in the backfield for the Panthers against Tampa Bay’s number 1-ranked run defense. Davis will have a tough time finding open holes against the Buccaneers’ stone wall of a defensive front. Though, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater should be able to have chances to expand the field with DJ Moore and Robby Anderson matching up with Tampa’s inexperienced corners.
Robby Anderson has been quietly a top-five receiver in the league this season. Anderson has hauled in 60 of his 80 targets for 751 yards to go with one touchdown. He is fourth in the league in receiving yards just behind the likes of Tyreek Hill and Stefon Diggs.
The defensive side of the ball is where the Panthers have struggled all season. Carolina seems to have a hard time being able to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks and it allows them to sling the ball downfield. As a team, the Panthers are giving up 25.1 points per game which is good for 15th in the league. They have also given up the 12th most air yards to opposing quarterbacks in the league, so look out for Tampa to try and stretch the field vertically.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Buccaneers -5.5
I think the right play here is the Bucs -5.5. It’s hard to go against Tom Brady off a loss and I’m not going to be that guy. Teddy Bridgewater is 32-11 ATS in his career as a starter and I think that stat is going to regress sooner than Tom Brady off a loss. Antonio Brown should be integrated more into the offense after another week of practice and I think Brady will want to show Arian’s what Antonio can do on the field. Troy Pride Jr. has been one of the worst corners in the league and he’s going to have a tough matchup today with all of these Bucs weapons. I also think the Bucs want to show everyone they are not frauds after the loss to the Saints. That’s why I’m hammering the Bucs to cover the -5.5.
