It’s been a brutal season for the 49ers as they have lost half their team due to injury or the COVID 19 virus. To make things worse San Francisco will be on the road to take on the red hot Saints in Week 10 of the NFL season.
The Saints are coming off a commanding win over the Buccaneers, while San Fran got crushed by Green bay their last time out.
San Francisco 49ers
It looks like it’s going to be a repeat of the 2018 season for the 49ers after losing Jimmy G and George Kittle for the rest of the season due to injury. The 49ers now have a total of 16 starters out due to injury coming into the game with the Saints.
Head coach Kyle Shannahan is still riding with Nick Mullens at starting quarterback after a rough outing against the Packers.
Mullens has started three games this season in the absence of Jimmy and has also appeared in another two for relief. He has completed 91 of 133 passes for 1143 yards to go along with five touchdowns and four interceptions. If Nick puts up another bad performance don’t be surprised if you see CJ Beathard come into the game as he is the backup for Mullens.
San Francisco is hopeful that Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk will be back for the game on Sunday as they had to miss the game against Green Bay while quarantining.
Aiyuk is the team’s seconding leading receiver with 383 yards this year and leader for touchdowns amongst receivers on the team. Samuel has had a down year in 2020 thanks to some injuries but showed a lot of promise as a rookie.

Defensively, the 49ers are wreck due to injuries and have allowed over 30 points in their last two games. Overall, they are 23 points per game which is good for 10th in the league, but that number is skewed due to that fact they have played some bad opponents.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints may have taken over as the hottest team in football after knocking off the Buccaneers on Sunday Night. New Orleans is now 6-2 and holds the top spot in the NFC South and the 2-0 tiebreaker over the Bucs if need be.
Sean Payton’s team is coming into form after getting some key players back from injury and is set up to make a run in the playoffs with the expanded field.
Drew Brees has bounced back from the slander that was thrown his way at the beginning of the season. Since the Saints Week 2 loss against the Raiders when the media said Brees is falling, he has led the highest-scoring offense in the league as they are averaging 31 points since that time.
Brees has completed 211 of 285 passes this season for 2120 yards to go along with 17 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
With Michael Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders coming off of IR/COVID List the Saints offense should be getting even better. Thomas had a nice game on Sunday night, but you could tell that he was not 100% in that contest, so look for him to play more of a role against a weak 49er’s secondary.
If there is one thing that New Orleans needs to work on it is limiting penalties on the deep ball. Between Marshon Lattimore and Janoris Jenkins, they are the two most penalized corners in the league in terms of yards per penalty this season and it has led to a bunch of points for the opposing squads.
As a team, the Saints are giving up an average of 25 points this season which is slotted at 14th in the NFL.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Over 49
I think that Over 49 is the pick for this game. The Saints have been on a scoring tear over the last five weeks and I don’t see it stopping going up against a practice squad team for the 49ers.
New Orleans is probably going to score 35+ points plus, so we just need something out of Nick Mullens and San Francisco to cover the number.
New Orleans has given up the third-most passing touchdowns this season and Mullens showed a lot of promise at the end of the Seahawks game throwing the ball, so I expect him to be able to score some points against this volatile Saints defense. Give me the over 49 to cover.
