To say that these two teams are trending in different directions would be an understatement. The Steelers remain the only undefeated team in the NFL, while the Jaguars have not won a game since week 1. Jacksonville will look to ruin that unblemished record when they host the Steelers at TIAA Bank Field on Sunday.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers looked sharp in a 36-10 route of the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. It was a needed rebound for the Steelers following their disappointing week 9 performance against the Dallas Cowboys. Everything clicked for Pittsburgh on both sides of the ball.
Pittsburgh’s offense has played well this year with Ben Roethlisberger back at the helm. Their strength comes from their variety of weapons and ability to exploit mismatches the defense presents them. This was on display Sunday as Big Ben threw a touchdown pass to Juju Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson, and two to Chase Claypool.
This talented receiving corps is a game planning nightmare for opposing defenses. Smith-Schuster has proven his ability to make plays when the defense isn’t able to key in on him. Claypool and Johnson have played well enough to force teams to divert some attention from JuJu. The 6-foot-4, 238 pound Claypool has caught 35 receptions for 500 yards and seven touchdowns. He has also added two touchdowns on the ground.

Pittsburgh’s hard-nosed defense is reminiscent of the Steel Curtain of the 1970’s. They are allowing a stingy 19 points per game on 345 yards. The pass rush led by TJ Watt, Bud Dupree, and Cam Heyward leads the league with a whopping 4 sacks per game.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville fell just short of pulling off an upset in Lambeau Field in week 10. They have played well behind backup Jake Luton, losing two close games. Luton will likely is expected to make his 3rd career start against the Steelers on Sunday.
The Jaguars have been dismal offensively, scoring only 22.1 points per game. DJ Chark Jr. and Keenan Cole Sr. have been Jacksonville’s leading receivers, each with four touchdown passes on the year. Running back James Robinson has emerged as a playmaker, leading the Jags with 689 yards on the ground and averaging 4.4 yards per carry. He has added five touchdowns on the ground and two through the air. Jacksonville also hopes to get receiver Laviska Shenault back from a hamstring injury.
Jacksonville’s defense is giving up a 420.7 yards and 30.1 points per game, both of which are 2nd worst in the NFL. They are very susceptible to the pass, giving up 289 yards per game through the air. They will be hard pressed to find ways to contain Pittsburgh’s receiving corps.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Pittsburgh is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games.
- Pittsburgh is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games against AFC opponents.
- Pittsburgh is 9-0 SU in their last 9 games.
- Jacksonville is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Pittsburgh -9.5
Jacksonville played well enough to easily cover the spread against Green Bay, but they will have their work cut out for them to cover against Pittsburgh. An inexperienced rookie quarterback with a struggling offensive line matching up with the best pass rush in the NFL is a recipe for havoc. The Steelers average 4 sacks per game, while the Jaguars are giving up 3.1 sacks per game. Kieth Butler will keep the pressure on Luton and prevent him from getting comfortable. He will not be able to keep up with the Pittsburgh offense. I’ll back the Steelers to cover.
