The Philadelphia Eagles will be on the road to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round on Sunday, January 16th. The kickoff is set for 1:00 ET.
Philadelphia lost their last game of the regular season, while Tampa Bay picked up a win.
The Bucs started off as a 10 point favorite and that number is now down to 8.5. The total has gone from 49.5 to 49.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles definitely had a better year than a lot of people thought. I am still not sure how good of a team they really are, but we shall find out on Sunday when they square off with the defending Super Bowl Champions.
Philadelphia got smoked by the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday by a score of 51-26. I get Philly was not playing a lot of their key people, but those sorts of losses, especially to a divisional rival like that, never look good for you.
One knock on this team has been the fact that when they face good quarterbacks, they do not play that well. They will have a chance to break that trend when they face off with the greatest whoever did it on Sunday, but the task will be very hard for them, as it is for most who face him.
Gardner Minshew went 19/33 for 186 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 pick in the loss on Sunday. Barring some sort of injury, it will be Jalen Hurts under center come Sunday.
The defense for these guys has been shaky all year long and now they have to face one of the best offenses in the NFL. This unit is certainly going to have their hands full when try and slow down Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers pretty much played how a lot of people though they would this year. Overall, I was quite impressed with them in the regular season.
Tampa Bay took care of the Carolina Panthers on Sunday by a score of 41-17. The game was close for a bit, but the better team just took over and ran with it.
I know a lot of people are still very high on the Packers, but this team here is definitely one of the better ones in the league. Based on how they finished the season, it would not shock me at all if they repeated as champions.
In the win over Carolina, Tom Brady was 29/37 for 326 yards with 3 touchdown passes. Even at his age, he had another amazing year statistically.
Listen, the defense for this team was certainly not as good as it was last year, but it still played on a very high level. Todd Bowles will be looking to craft something up in order to confuse the young quarterback, Jalen Hurts. A big key for this unit is stopping the explosive Philly running game.
NFL Betting Trends:

4* Free Wild Card Round NFL Betting Prediction: Buccaneers -8.5
These two teams met earlier in the year and the upper hand went to the Bucs. Yes, the final score was close, but Tampa Bay really had control of most of the football game. Of course, the Eagles will be looking for a different result in this spot, but it will one tall order.
I just feel Tom Brady and his offense matchup well with this team. Yes, they are missing some weapons, but other guys stepped up when guys were down at the end of the regular season and that is what they will be asked to do once again on Sunday.
As I noted earlier, this defense for the Eagles is shaky at best. That is never a good recipe when you face this dynamic of an offense. As he done so many times before, if you can be exposed, Tom Brady will pick you apart.
With regards to the offense for Philadelphia, I just am not sure how they are going to muster up all that many points. At some points, Jalen Hurts is going to have to step up in the pocket and show he can be an effective passer, which I am not banking on.
I know the spread may seem a bit heavy, but I like the Bucs laying it here. Once they find their rhythm and get going, I do not see the Eagles having all that many answers for them on either side of the ball. When all is said and done, I do not feel this will be all that close of a final score.
Give me the Bucs laying 8 and the hook in this Wild Card Round game.
