The Jets and Seahawks are both looking to turn the page on a horrible week 13 when they clash at Lumen Field on Sunday. The Jets narrowly missed out on their first win of the season after a historic lapse led to a last second Raider win. The Seahawks suffered their most disappointing loss of the season to the New York Giants, and look to get back on track.
New York Jets
The New York Jets have been the butt of the joke all season. They have been the exemplification of a dysfunctional organization. The head coach hiring of Adam Gase has been widely regarded as a major gaffe. The team has failed develop Sam Darnold, after trading up in the 2018 draft to select him with the third overall pick. They are now favored to become the third 0-16 team in NFL history.
The Jets offense has been bad. There’s no other way to say it. They rank worst in the league in points per game and total offense, averaging only 15 points per game and 276.8 total yards. Darnold has started the last two game after returning from a shoulder injury. He has not been spectacular, throwing two touchdowns and two interceptions while throwing for less than 200 yards in those games.
New York expects to have their leading rusher Frank Gore back from concussion protocol on Sunday. Gore has rushed for 523 yards and one touchdown, averaging 3.7 yards per carry. Ty Johnson rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown last week in Gore’s absence, and will be still be involved in the rushing attack.
Their hasn’t been much more to be excited about on the defensive side of the ball. New York is allowing 29.4 points and 398.8 yards per game. The big news is that this will be their first game without Gregg Williams at defensive coordinator. He abruptly fired after his questionable cover 0 play call that led to the Raiders game winning touchdown last week. While it’s possible players may come out reenergized after his departure, it’s hard to expect them play mistake free after replacing Williams on such short notice.
The Seahawks are tied with the Rams atop the NFC West. It’s disappointing that they weren’t able to beat the Giants to capitalize on the opportunity to take a division lead. Lucky for Seattle, Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson two of the best at staying positive and turning the page after disappointment.
Russell Wilson is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. While he has cooled off a little after his blistering start to the season, he is playing good football. He has completed 70% of his passes for 3,479 yards while throwing 32 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.
Wilson has torched defenses throwing to his two feature weapons D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. D.K. Metcalf is one of the NFL’s biggest rising stars. The 6-foot-4 230 pound Receiver has proven to be one of the most freakish athletes in the league. He presents a matchup nightmare for almost any defense. Lockett is also an elite receiver, and has made teams pay when failing to account for him.
Chris Carson leads the Seattle rushing attack with 429 yards and four rushing touchdowns while averaging a strong 4.9 yards per carry. Sunday will be his third game back after returning from a foot injury. Carlos Hyde is the other half of Seattle’s one-two punch in the backfield.
Seattle’s defense has tightened up after a historically bad start to the year. The return of some key players from injury and the acquisition of pass rusher Carlos Dunlap have spurred the improvement. The return of top cornerback Shaquill Griffin has bolstered the pass defense, and Jamal Adams return can’t be understated. Adams is a high-energy field general that changes the makeup of Seattle’s defense.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Pittsburgh is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games.
- NY is 4-8 ATS in their last 12 games.

- NY is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games against NFC West opponents.
- Seattle is 8-4 SU in their last 12 games.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Seattle -13.5
The surprising part of Seattle’s loss to the Giants was that it was the offense that struggled, not the defense. The defense has continued to improve and has only allowed 18.3 points per game over their last three. While it’s disappointing that the offense faltered, I am more comfortable relying on Russell Wilson and the Seahawk offense to bounce back. They have been one of the most potent offense in the NFL all year, and Russell Wilson has proven his ability to come back after losses.
The Jets are the worst team in the league. Couple that with this being their first game with an interim defensive coordinator, and this is a more than favorable matchup for Seattle. 13.5 points is a huge spread to cover in the NFL, but I will back Wilson and the Seahawks to get the job done.
