A pair of division rivals will face off to kick off their respected NFL seasons. The New York Jets will come to Buffalo to take on the Bills at home in one of the 1:00 games on the East Coast. Bills are coming a 10-6 season in which they lost in the first round in the playoffs, while the Jets finished at 7-9 and got another top pick in the draft.
New York Jets
The Jets really struggled to find a rhythm in 2019. Sam Darnold missed five games early in the season due to getting mono after last year’s week two games.
Offensively, the Jets averaged 273 yards and 17.3 points per game. A big part of that was missing Darnold for those five games, but another issue the Jets had was that feature back Le’Veon Bell had a pretty disappointing season as well. Bell rushed for just 789 yards and three touchdowns in 2019. That marked the lowest numbers in his career for a full season that wasn’t shortened by injury.
New York got a steal in the draft with OL Mekhi Becton who looks ready to help this team instantly. Adam Gase also got another boost on offense acquiring veteran RB Frank Gore to help shape the running back room.

On defense, the Jets weren’t the best team in 2019 letting up an average of 22.4 points per game. Although the defense didn’t perform well against other teams New York actually had their best defensive games against the Bills last season. They allowed a combined 23 points in those two games and even pulled out one victory in the final matchup in week 17.
Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills may be poised for the biggest run for the franchise in the last 20 years. For the first time in two decades, the Bills will not, I repeat WILL NOT have to face Tom Brady twice a year, so that is a huge boost for them. Third-year starting QB Josh Allen should have all the confidence in the world knowing that it is his division to lose now as the Bills could make a run for the Super Bowl.
Josh Allen led his team to a 10-6 record last year and now has Stefon Diggs to throw to in his receiver corps. Buffalo went and got the best deep ball receiver for possibly one of the best deep-ball throwers in the league. John Brown will be on the other side of Diggs in this Bills offense after a breakout year 2019. Brown posted over 1000 for the first time in his career last year and will look to build on that this year as he is not the number one target anymore.
A thing to look out for in this game is how the Bills use their backfield. Devin Singletary is coming off a strong rookie season but they also drafted Zack Moss from Oregon, who should also play a key role in this offense to take some of the load off, Singletary.
Where this Buffalo team really thrives though is within their defense. Defensively, they gave up only 16.2 points per game which was second in football only behind the New England Patriots. Tre’Davious White led the NFL in INT’s last season with six on the year and should be highly motived in 2020 after signing a big extension.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Bills -6.5
Buffalo is the better team in this matchup and I’m not just saying that because they are the favorite. The Jets lost two of their key receivers this offseason and the Bills are one of the best teams at stopping the run. The only way the Jets have a shot in this game is if their defense can keep up with Buffalo’s and shut them down for all four quarters. Give me the Bills to cover the spread with a late touchdown.
