This week 17 match-up will be an AFC East battle between the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills.
In the first meeting, the Bills beat the Jets 17-16.
New York Jets
Although they will not be having a winning season, the Jets beat the Steelers this past week. The final score to this game was 16-10. New York will be at the very least be trying to finish their season off on a multiple game winning streak. They will also be trying to force the Bills to be the sixth seed in the playoffs.
The Jets only managed to score 16 points against Pittsburgh, so by no means is their offense explosive. In fact, they have one of the worst offenses in the entire NFL. They are averaging 273.1 yards per game, the fewest in the league. Their passing offense ranks 30th, averaging 195.1 yards per game through the air.
Also, the acquisition of LeVeon Bell has not really worked out for the Jets as they average just 78.1 yards per game on the ground. This is the second worst rushing attack in the NFL. Now having to face a tough defense they could continue to have problems scoring or even moving the ball for that matter.

The defense for the Jets has been overall decent. They are allowing a total of 324.1 yards per game, the 7th best in the NFL. New York’s rushing defense is the second best in the league, allowing just 87.9 yards per game.
New York was able to force two turnovers against the Steelers, which played a big role in limiting them to just 10 points. The Jets will need to force turnovers in this game as well if they want to finish the season with a win.
Buffalo Bills
The Bills lost their chance to win the AFC East this past week when they lost to New England. The final score to this game was 24-17. The Bills actually were winning this game 17-13 heading into the fourth quarter, but were unable to hold on to their lead.
Buffalo certainly do not have the best offense this season, averaging just 331.6 yards per game. Their passing offense also only averages 199.5 yards per game. Now their rushing offense is where they excel, ranking as the sixth best rushing attack in the NFL. They average 132.1 yards per game on the ground.
Against the Patriots, the Bills relied on big plays which could be a concern going forward. They were 2 of 11 on third downs in this particular game, so they were not sustaining drives. To be fair, this was against the Patriots. The only slight issue for this game is the Jets have a very good rush defense so if they cannot establish the run, they may have trouble moving the ball.
The Bills defense however, is one of the best units in the league. They are ranked 3rd in the league in total yards allowed. Buffalo has the 3rd best passing defense and the 12th best rushing defense. To go along with that, they have the 2nd best scoring defense, allowing 16.4 points per game.
NFL Betting Trends:
- NYJ are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 vs. AFC East.
- NYJ are 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 vs. AFC.
- BUF are 5-1-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Buffalo Bills -1
The Bills may have already clinched a playoff spot, but they will certainly be trying to head into the playoffs with a win. Also, this will most likely be their last home game of the season, so they will want to finish off the season strong for their home fans.
I believe the Jets are overvalued in this game because they beat a below average Steelers team. I like the Bills in this game to win in what is basically a pick em’.
