For the second time in three weeks, the Saints will be taking on the Falcons. This time New Orleans will be on the road to face Atlanta. The Last time these two teams met up Drew Brees suffered the rib injury that has thrust Tayson Hill into the starting lineup. New Orleans got the win in that game 24-9 and will try to sweep the season series in this one on Sunday.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints currently hold the #1 seed in the NFC after rattling off eight straight wins and hold the tiebreaker over the Packers if they were to lose another game. New Orleans is coming off an absolute pounding win over Denver 31-3 where there were less than 25 pass attempts combined in the game.
Taysom Hill has been serviceable as a starter for the Saints and a gambler’s dream as he is 2-0 against the spread. Without Drew Brees starting over the last two years Sean Peyton’s team is 7-0 SU and 7-0 against the spread with Taysom Hill and Teddy Bridgewater at quarterback.
Even though it has been pretty with Taysom Hill under center the Saints still are managing a way to win the games. Taysom has completed 27 of 39 passes for 311 yards accompanied by one interception in his starts. He also has run for 93 yards and four touchdowns over the last two weeks.

Defensively, New Orleans is putting it together at the right time. With their hall of fame quarterback out, they knew they were going to have to step it up to rack up some wins. Over the last six weeks since their bye week, the Saints are the number one team in the NFL in points allowed with 12.5 points per game. The secondary has really tightened things up after allowing the most defense pass interference penalties and the most yards through the first seven weeks.
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are coming off a convincing win against a good Raiders team 43-6. Atlanta dominated Las Vegas on the defensive side of the ball and caused them to turn it over several times in the win. Raheem Morris is now 4-2 since taking over in Week 6 as the Falcons interim head coach and has done a great job turning around their season.
Matt Ryan has not been playing his best football over the last five weeks, but the defense keeps bailing him out. Ryan has turned the ball over five times in the last four weeks and that’s not a recipe for winnings football games. He has completed just 55% of his passes over the last two weeks and needs to pick it up if they are going to try to win out for that last wildcard spot.
As a team, the Falcons are scoring 26.8 points per game which is good for 11th in the NFL. They have the fifth-most passing yards per game in the NFL with 271.4 yards, but that has ticked down to 213.5 yards per game over the last three weeks. Atlanta’s rushing attack ranks 23rd in the league as they average just 103.5 yards on the ground per game. With Todd Gurley most likely out again this week Brian Hill is going to have most of the workload.
Atlanta’s defense has really picked up in the second half of the season. Since Raheem Morris took over as the interim head coach the Falcons have allowed 20 points per game which is good for sixth in the NFL since week 5. All together the Falcons have allowed 25.5 points per game which is good for 17th in the league.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Falcons +3
I like the Falcons to win this game outright. Atlanta had zero problems moving the ball downfield against the Saints when they played two weeks ago, they just couldn’t execute in the red-zone. If the Falcons can manage to get a couple of touchdowns in this game I think their defense is capable of slowing down Taysom Hill as his game is pretty one-dimensional. Sean Peyton is 7-0 ATS with a backup QB in and this trend won’t last for much longer as everything is due for a regression. Give me the Falcons to beat the Saints and hand them their third loss of the season.
