This line has seen a ton of action on it but only a tiny move to -4.5 from -5.0 earlier yesterday. It seems like the Dolphins are a little short here for me so it could be a trap.
But this football season makes little to no sense not to beat a dead horse, The Bears beat the snot out of the Patriots in primetime as we have covered. We really don’t have any idea what we’re going to get this season.
One angle I do like in this one is the over, both of these defences are not great and Justin Fields and his guys are starting to move the ball quite a bit better than they started.
Justin Fields is my favourite young quarterback without question and I cannot wait to see what the Bears do next year with how much cap space they have along with all the draft picks they have.
They could end up being the new Dolphins, after they turned their Trey Lance deal with the 9ers into Waddle, Hill and Bradley Chubb. They are currently setup to do something similar next year.
Enough of that though, let’s dive into this Sunday shall we?
Miami Dolphins
For all the excitement and hype surrounding this Dolphins squad whom I love despite what I am about to say, their offensive team metrics are really mediocre. Clearly they have a ton of talent and explosive ability but they only sit in the top ten in three major stats.
Those being; Yards per game with 380, red zone scoring % resulting in a TD which is almost 70% of the time, and yards per play at 6.2. All of those are incredibly important stats one of which is the most important in football which makes their scoring a bit puzzling.
On the other side of the ball they are worse than mediocre. They sit at the bottom of the barrel in most metrics.
They allow more points on average than they score which is obviously something they need to clean up if they want to beat the big boys in their conference. They allow 362 yards per game, and opponents convert third downs on them at a 42% success rate.
Chicago Bears
The Bears rushing defence is god awful. They’re allowing 5 yards per rush to opponents, opponents know this so they average 31.3 rushing attempts against the Bears, and they allow 156 yards rushing on average per game so if you have Mostert in fantasy he’s probably a start this week.
Because of that, opposing teams do not throw the ball often against the Bears. In fact they have the lowest percentage of opposing teams passing plays against them.
Unfortunately for them however on those passing attempts they bleed yards and points which probably has Tua, Tyreek and Jaylen Waddle licking their chops in the film room right now.

I love the Dolphins here despite this line feeling trappy. The Dolphins definitely have some underlying numbers that aren’t really in line with the highlights they produce each and every week but they’re talent on the field is so much better than what the Bears are fielding it seems like an easy win.
Despite the recent success the Bears have had moving the football they still have some very weak numbers offensively. They are averaging less than 20 points per game, they are 27th in the league with 315 yards per game on average and only score a touchdown in the red zone just over half of the time.
I reiterate, it seems like a trap but give me the much more talented team over the one entering a rebuild.
