The Miami Dolphins will be traveling to Buffalo to take on the Bills to close out their regular season with a divisional matchup in Week 17. Miami is coming off a last-second win against the Raiders 26-25 thanks to some last-minute heroics from Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Bills put down a drubbing on the Patriots in their last game 38-9 to move to 12-3 on the season.
Miami Dolphins
We saw starting QB Tua Tagovailoa get pulled from Saturday’s game due to poor performance. It proved to be the right move by Brian Flores as veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick led the Phins to a come from behind victory. The Dolphins will try to sure up a playoff spot on their own with a victory over the Bills on Sunday, if not they will need some help.
Brian Flores was adamant in his press conference that even though Tua had started out slow he will remain the starter for the Dolphins for their matchup with Buffalo this week. Tagovailoa has struggled at times this season but hasn’t done anything that has been detrimental to Miami in winning games. He is 6-2 in the eight games he has started this season.
Tua has completed 65.1% of his passes for 1453 passing yards to go along with a 10:2 TD to INT ratio. He leads a Miami offense that is averaging 25.2 points per game which ranks 15th in the league.
Myles Gaskin has run for a team-leading 564 yards on 135 carries (51.3 yards per game) while scoring two touchdowns in 11 games. He also is a threat out of the backfield and has grabbed 37 passes for 331 yards to go with two scores.
The Dolphins have the best scoring defense in the league surrendering just an average of 18.8 points per game. They have 21 consecutive games with a takeaway which is an NFL record. Xavien Howard leads the NFL with nine interceptions and has added 47 tackles, 1.0 TFL, and 19 passes defended 15 in games.
Buffalo Bills
A win over Miami would cement the #2 seed for the Bills and have them matched up with either the Dolphins, Titans, Colts, or Browns in the first round of the playoffs. However, a Bills loss and a Steelers win would flip the scenario and see the Steelers surface as the second seed (If both the Steelers and Bills lose the Bills would remain the #2 seed thanks to a tiebreaker).
Josh Allen is putting MVP type numbers this season and it’s all thanks to his new weapons on offense. Allen has passed for 4,322 passing yards (288.1 yards per game) and has a 69.1% completion percentage this year (the highest of his career) while throwing 34 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 15 games.
Stefon Diggs has 120 catches to lead the NFL (on 160 targets) with 1,459 yards (97.3 per game) and eight touchdowns in 15 games this season. He has gained more receiving yards this year in Buffalo than any other year of his career.
Defensively, the Bills have had their problems but have been much better over the last few weeks. Buffalo is allowing an average of 23.3 points per game which ranks 14th in the NFL. Tre’Davious White has a team-high three interceptions and has tacked on 59 tackles, 2.0 TFL, 1.5 sacks, and 11 passes defended 14 in games this season.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Miami +1
I think that Miami is going to need to win this game if they want to make the playoffs. The other teams that have a chance to steal the eighth spot from the Dolphins have easier opponents to face and they are going to be motivated as well. Buffalo will probably rest any players that they have banged up and don’t be surprised if Josh Allen doesn’t suit up for the second half of this game. Give me Miami to pull out a close one against the Bills and solidify their playoff berth.
