My cold streak continues ladies and gents. I am deeply sorry and I understand if you are fading me at this point. I recently read though a quote from Mattress Mack that ”a gambler has to be resilient. A setback is just a setup for a comeback.”
So with those wise words in mind, it’s your boy Lavoie here again taking another crack at football playoffs. In this matchup we see the Rams who are coming off beating the living tar out of the Cardinals to wrap up wild card weekend, visit the Buccaneers who are also coming off a massive beatdown on the Eagles the day prior.
So with the lines set let’s dig into this one and see what the Rams can do to beat the GOAT and the rest of this veteran Buccaneer squad. The early money appears to be on the Rams so I expect this line to change quite a bit this week.
Los Angeles Rams
The Rams do a lot of things really well. This is perhaps the most well rounded team remaining in the playoffs.
One thing we do not talk about a lot especially in the world of gambling is special teams and this unit for the Rams is probably the best one remaining in these playoffs. Hekker kicked very well yesterday against the Cardinals which was a big reason why they didn’t advance past their own 29 yard line until late in the first half.
Another thing this Rams team does incredibly well is rush the passer. The late season acquisition of Von Miller has really paid off, adding him to a line that already has Aaron Donald is just downright terrifying for opposing quarterbacks.
And as we saw in the Bucs game against the Eagles, both Wirfs and Jensen come out of the game with injuries. Both came back into the game with Wirfs eventually leaving after trying a few snaps, but whether or not they play on Sunday this offensive line appears to be banged up.
So, that is a massive potential advantage for the Rams heading into this game. Brady was sacked 3 straight times on 3rd down in the game against Philly so that worries me if I’m a Bucs backer.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Now with that said, Tom is a master at getting through reads quickly and getting the ball out post snap to who is open. So although he’s a statue in there and does not possess the athletic ability to get away from those edge rushers in LA, he can pick you apart in the middle of the field if you bring 5 constantly to try and make his life miserable which is incredibly frustrating, tiresome and not always the best game plan.
Also, the Bucs run defence is a very stout unit. The Rams moved the ball with ease last night against a Cardinals defence that just did not show up. As a result they were in front of the chains all evening and managed to get into scoring position on almost every drive.
I highly doubt this will be the case against this team who has Todd Bowles calling plays and better personnel.

4* Free Divisional Round NFL Betting Prediction: Buccaneers -3.0
Feel free to bet against Tom Brady in the playoffs if you like, but do so at your own peril. I for one cannot do it I have too much faith in this Bucs team this year.
People are talking a lot about their injuries like Godwin and Fournette, as well losing Antonio Brown at the end of the season as a proverbial final nail in the coffin.
All reports suggest Fournette is trending towards playing in this game, and I am a believer in this receiving unit still with Perriman, Scotty Miller, and Tyler Johnson.
Johnson and Brady did show they had some timing issues on two different routes in the Eagles game where Johnson appeared to throttle down when Tom was expecting him to be getting through his route quicker, but that is a really minor wrinkle they are likely ironing out on the field as I type this out.
And, they still have Mike Evans and Rob Gronkowski!
At the end of the day, I am taking Brady to out duel his counterpart and pick this defence apart because when it matters most, Tom gets it done.
