Two NFC West rivals will face off on Sunday Night Football as the Rams are going to San Fran to take on the 49ers at home. The Rams are coming off a thumping of the Washington Football team, while the 49ers are coming off a loss against the Dolphins on the East Coast.
Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles is now 4-1 after sweeping the NFC East in games this season going 4-0 against that division. The Rams will finally start to play some divisional opponents as they open up their divisional schedule with the Niners.
Jared Goff has had a nice start to 2020 after injuries hurt his receiving core in 2019. Goff and Sean McVay have gotten back to throwing a lot more play-action passes which were very effective for them in 2018.
Jared has completed 109 of 152 passes for 1372 yards to go along with eight touchdowns and three interceptions so far this year. Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods (AKA Bobby Trees) have emerged as Goff’s favorite targets this season as they are slotted as the #1 and #2 receivers in Los Angeles’ offense.
Kupp has corraled 363 yards in the air to go with two scores, while Woods has hauled in 300 air yards for two scores as well.

The Rams have had their problems stopping the run despite their great record so far this season. Los Angeles is giving up at least 100 yards on the ground and saw their opponents average at least 4.7 yards per carry in each of their first four games of the season. They did do a nice job preventing the run against Washington last week, but they were playing with a lead for 85% of the game so the “Team” was forced to throw the ball.
San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco has had to deal with a slew of injuries on the offensive and defensive side of the ball this season. They have also made things very interesting as they’ve had to put players in and out of the mix. The 49ers have shuttled through three quarterbacks and a quartet of running backs in the first five games of the season.
We have already seen the likes of Jimmy Garappolo, Nick Mullens, and CJ Beathard at the quarterback position for the Niners. It looks like Jimmy should be good to go for this game on Sunday night. He struggled against the Dolphins early and actually found himself benched in the second half because of poor play.
Raheem Mostert leads the team with 34 carries for 238 yards and a score on the season. Jerick McKinnon has contributed 35 carries for 193 yards and three scores. Rookie Brandon Aiyuk (four carries, 69 yards, two TD), Tevin Coleman (18 carries, 30 yards), and Jeff Wilson Jr. (21 carries, 51 yards, TD) have also been a part of the production so far this year.
San Francisco had been pretty solid when it comes to preventing big plays in the passing game by their opposition, at least until last week. Hopefully, they can replicate the early success they had as they are going to need it against these Rams’ receivers. DJ Hyder Jr. leads the team in the pass rush department with 3.5 sacks on the season. As a team, San Francisco has recorded 10 sacks, 20 passes defended, and three interceptions this year.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: 49ers +3.5
I’m going to have to give the 49ers the advantage in this game as it’s a bad matchup game for the Rams. The Niners possess the power to run the ball down the Rams throat, and work in play-action passes off of that. San Francisco’s defense also has the ability to force Goff into some very bad throws as they will be chasing him all over the field. The only thing that makes me hesitant on the Niners is the fact that Jimmy G needs to be healthy for them to be running at full steam. But nonetheless, I’m riding with the Niners to get the upset as they have the better matchup.
