Even though Las Vegas just opened a brand new stadium they will start 2020 on the road against the Carolina Panthers. The Black Hole will have to wait one more week before they make their first appearance in their new 2 billion dollar stadium.
Las Vegas Raiders
Third-year head coach Jon Gruden will look to get his first winning season as the head coach of the Raiders and the first winnings season for Las Vegas since 2016.
Veteran Derek Carr will be the starting QB week one for Gruden’s offense. Carr was the 10th best-ranked quarterback in the league last season according to QBR. He threw for 4054 yards to go with his 21 touchdowns.
The Raiders cashed in on the draft in 2020 as the picks they got from the Khalil Mack trade were optioned to them. Gruden grabbed Henry Ruggs III and Damon Arnette in the first round who will try to make an impact on the team right away. Ruggs was a top target for top-5 draft pick Tua Tagovailoa at Alabama and will try to transition his skills to the NFL. Ruggs racked up 25 touchdowns and 1791 yards at his three-year stay at Alabama.

Defensively, the Raiders had a couple of injuries that affected the rotations on a weekly basis so it hurt them not being to get into a rhythm. Hopefully, 2019 fourth-round draft pick Maxx Crosby can stay healthy for a full season as he finished second among rookies with 10 sacks.
Carolina Panthers
It will mark a new era in Carolina in 2020 as they have moved on from former MVP Cam Newton and head coach Ron Rivera. Teddy Bridgewater will be the starting QB for the Panthers to start 2020 after leading the Saints to a 5-0 record while Drew Brews was injured. Matt Rhule will start his reign as Carolina’s head coach and try to improve on their 5-11 record from 2019.
Teddy Bridgewater completed 133 of 196 passes for 1384 passing yards. Bridgewater had a 9:2 TD to INT ratio in his five starts for the Saints in 2019.
Christian McCaffery will try to have an even better 2020 after making the All-Pro team for the first time in his career. McCaffery racked up 2392 scrimmage yards and 19 TD’s to lead the league in both categories.
Panthers struggled defensively in 2019 and hopefully can pick it up with Rhule bringing a new philosophy to the team.
