An interdivisional matchup between the Raiders and the Falcons is going down this weekend as Las Vegas will travel to Atlanta. The Raiders are coming off a last-minute loss to the Chiefs 35-31 after giving them all they had for 60 minutes, while Atlanta is coming off a loss to the Saints where they didn’t score a touchdown.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders will be looking to move back into their wildcard spot with a win over the Falcons on Sunday. Las Vegas currently sits at 6-4 on the season and is on the outside looking in at a playoff spot in the West if the season ended today. Jon Gruden has his guys playing some really good football and is the only team in the NFL that is giving the Chiefs a run for their money in terms of competition.
Derek Carr is having a very productive year in 2020 and is posting some of the best numbers in his career. Carr has the highest passer rating of his career through 10 games with 108.7. He also has the least amount of interceptions through 10 games in his career with three this season.
The 29-year old quarterback has completed 219 of 314 passes this season for 2431 yards to go with 19 touchdowns and three interceptions. Carr is sixth in the league in adjusted passing yards with 8.52 yards per attempt and is tied for seventh in the league in net yards per pass attempt with 7.17 this season.

Josh Jacobs has exceeded 100 yards in two out of his last four games. The 22-year old running back has a difficult matchup against a solid Falcons rush defense. Jacobs has registered 755 rushing yards on an average of 3.8 yards per attempt this season. Darren Waller remains to be Carr’s favorite target. The fabulous tight end has made 22 catches in his last three games and has accumulated 519 receiving yards on the year. The Raiders’ offense has scored at least 30 points in three straight games.
Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta will try to bounce back against Las Vegas following their loss to the Saints last week, 24-9. The Falcons still have some hope to claim a wildcard spot if they can win out the rest of the season. The improvement of the Falcons defense is what has been key for them to stay in the games as of late. Since Raheem Morris took over in Week 6 Atlanta has allowed 22.8 points per game which is good for 9th in the NFL since then.
The Falcon’s offense was looking really good up until the game with the Saints. Julio Jones went down early in the first quarter and it definitely shook up the Falcons game plan with him out. New Orleans was able to get 11 QB hits and 10 passes deflected against Ryan and that really hurt their chances at generating points. The offensive line needs to do a better job of protecting Ryan this week with a blitz-happy Las Vegas defense.
Other than the poor performance last week Matt Ryan has been above average this season. The veteran is fourth in the NFL with 2978 passing yards accompanied by a 15:7 TD to INT ratio.
The defense for Atlanta hasn’t been reliable this season, however, as I stated earlier they have been not as vulnerable since Morris took over duties. They are effective against the run with a rush defense that stands ninth which is in stark contrast to a pass defense that is 31st.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Falcons +3
I like Atlanta to be able to cover the number in this game. The Falcons should be able to stretch the field on the Raiders defense that’s ranked 26th in the league overall and is surrendering 27.6 points per game. Atlanta has been very effective against the run and should have no problem shutting down Josh Jacobs out of the backfield. Jon Gruden has said in the past that he hates traveling, and especially hates traveling for the 1:00 games. Expect the Raiders to come out slow and I think the Falcons could have a chance to jump out to an early lead. If the Falcons defense can force a couple of turnovers in the game I think they have a good shot at winning this game outright, but I’m going to take the points.
