An interdivisional matchup between the Vikings and the Jaguars is going down this weekend in Minneapolis. The Vikings are coming off a last-minute victory against the Panthers 28-27 when everything seemed lost, while Jaguars couldn’t mount the comeback and fell just short against the Browns in their last bout 27-25.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are coming off a loss against the Browns 27-25. Jacksonville currently holds the second-worst record in the NFL just a game behind the winless Jets. They are on a 10-game losing streak and haven’t had a victory since Week 1 against the Colts.
Head Coach Doug Marrone said on Tuesday that he is going to be going with Mike Glennon under center for the second consecutive week after he almost led the Jags to their second victory. We have now seen a combo of Gardner Minshew, Jake Luton and now Mike Glennon at quarterback for the Jags this season. Glennon completed 20 of 35 passes for 235 yards accompanied by two touchdowns in the game against the Browns. He didn’t do too bad for his first start in three years.
Running back James Robinson has been the brightest spot for the Jaguars this season. The undrafted rookie leads the team in rushing with 890 yards and has the most touchdowns on the team with six. He has the third-most rushing yards in the league and has more than 200 rushing yards than the next closest rookie.

On the defensive side of the ball, Jacksonville is terrible. They give up the third-most points a game with an average of 29.5. They have allowed the fourth-most passing yards in the league with 3074 yards through the air and fourth-most passing touchdowns with 23 on the season.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings have found themselves right back in the mix for a wildcard berth after starting the season 1-5. Minnesota currently sits at 5-6 and is one game back of the Cardinals for the final playoff spot in the NFC. Mike Zimmer has done a great job to turn his team’s season around after the bye week as they are 4-1 since that point.
Kirk Cousins has been one of the best quarterbacks as of late. Since their bye week in Week 6, Kirk has thrown for 12 touchdowns and just one interception compared to 10 interceptions through the first six weeks of the season. Cousins has completed 218 of 320 passes this season for 2768 yards to go along with 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Minnesota should most likely be getting Adam Thielen back for this game after he was forced to miss last Sunday’s contest against the Panthers with COVID-19. He leads all receivers on the team in touchdowns with eleven this season and only trails Dalvin Cook who has 13 for the team lead. Thielen is tied for second with Mike Evans and Davante Adams for the most touchdowns by a receiver this season.
Defensively, the Vikings have been much better as of late and that is mostly thanks to them stopping the deep ball. Over the first six weeks, Minnesota allowed the most 20+ yard passes to be completed and now has cut that in half. Since Week six, the Vikings have allowed 22.6 points per game which is much better compared to the 32.0 points they were surrendering in the first six weeks. Don’t get me wrong though Minnesota still has a very bad secondary and can let up points in a hurry.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Over 51.5 (Buy .5 point -120)
I think that the Over is the right play for this game. Jacksonville and Minnesota are both in the bottom four teams according to defensive DVOA. The weak Jaguars secondary and weak Minnesota secondary could make this game poised to be a shootout. Both teams have very talented receivers who just need to get the ball in their hands and can make magic happen. The Jaguars are giving up 29.5 points per game, and the Vikings are surrendering 27.7 points per game, so this should make for an easy over. Give me over 51.5 points to cash and buy a .5 point to get inside the football number.
