An important AFC South matchup is going down in Indianapolis on Sunday as the Texans will try to spoil the Colts hopes of a playoff chance. The Texans are coming off a loss to the Bears 36-7, while the Colts took care of business against the Raiders 44-27.
Houston Texans
The Texans will try to rebound against the Colts on Sunday after literally fumbling away the game in the final seconds as they were driving to take the lead the last time these two teams met. Houston is currently on a two-game losing streak after going 3-1 in interim head coach Romeo Crennel’s first four games.
Deshaun Watson is playing the best football so far in his career. It’s just a shame he has no weapons left to help him get any help. The Texans have lost their top three receivers from a season ago and Watson is still managing to put up career numbers. He has completed 297 of 431 passes for 3761 passing yards to go along with a 25 TD to six INT ratio. Deshaun is also second on the team in rushing with 369 yards and three scores.
Overall, the Texan’s offense has been lacking at times this season with an average of 22.7 points per game. The offense has ended up with a total of 289 yards per game in the air and 86 yards per game on the ground. Houston is the worst team in the league at rushing the ball and only has accumulated 1121 yards on the season. To put it in perspective Derrick Henry and Dalvin cook have over 1400 yards on the season themselves.

The defense for Houston has allowed a total of 27.6 points a game which is 25th in the league. They have given up 270 yards per game in the air and 152 yards per game on the ground. The Texans are the second-worst team in the league at defending the run and if they can’t shut down the run on Sunday expect Indianapolis to take full advantage and run up the score, literally.
Indianapolis Colts
Colts have rattled off two straight wins and are looking to grab 10 wins in a season for the first time since 2018. Frank Reich has his squared playing really well on both sides of the ball right now and looks like they have the most well-rounded team in the NFL.
Offensively, Phillip Rivers has Indianapolis rolling right now. Over the last five games, the colts are 4-1 and averaging 32.8 points per game. Rivers over that span has a 10 to 2 TD:INT ratio and has completed 68.33 % of his passes.
The Colts on the year have ended up with a total of 28.6 points a game scored. The offense has thrown the ball for 271 yards a game and have ended up running the ball for a total of 113 yards per game.
The good news for the Colts is that Ty Hilton is starting to break out for the Indianapolis offense. The star-studded wide receiver seemed to be bottled up over the first ten games but now has broken out since missing the game against the Ravens. Over his last five games, Hilton has caught 24 of 34 targets for 353 yards to go along with four touchdowns. If T.Y. can stay healthy for the remainder of the season he will be big for them down the stretch heading into the playoffs.
Defensively Indianapolis has allowed a total of 23.1 points per game. The defense has given up a total of 243 yards per game in the air and 99 yards per game on the ground.
