The Denver Broncos are coming off a much needed win on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Tennessee is coming off a much needed bye week after clinging onto a win in their last game on the road against the Chicago Bears.
Rookie quarterback Paxton Lynch had a successful enough debut as the Denver Broncos defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 2-10.
Lynch really wasn’t impressive and against anybody else, the Broncos would have probably lost the game.
Lynch only completed half of his passes, but he didn’t throw any interceptions. He didn’t make any mistakes and made sure the defense led the way to victory.
Lynch is only a rookie, but he’ll have to be better if the Broncos hope to win more games with him under center in the future.
Nevertheless, for now, that Broncos defense will have to continue carrying this team. This week, however, will be tough against the Tennessee Titans.
The Tennessee Titans are coming off an extra week of preparation and are playing at home. The Titans are a better team at home than they are on the road.
In their last four home games, the Titans are 3-1 including a win over the Green Bay Packers. The Titans are averaging 33.25 points per game in those four games.
While the Broncos possess one of the best defenses in the NFL, their rush defense leaves something to be desired.
The Broncos are a below average defense in the run game and according to DVOA they are 24th in the league.
The Tennessee Titans are a strong offensive team all-around and they have one of the best offensive lines in the league.
With DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry leading their rushing attack, the Broncos will have their hands full containing those two.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Tennessee over is 8-1 in their last 9 games
- Tennessee over is 7-1 in their last 8 home games
- Denver is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games
- Denver over is 8-1 in their last 9 meetings against Tennessee
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Titans -1.5 ATS
Both of these teams are pretty similar.
Offensively, Tennessee is better and defensively Denver is better, but the gap isn’t huge. Both teams have alternated wins and losses in their last five games.
Both teams are 2-3 ATS in their last five games and this is a must win for both teams.
I’m leaning Tennessee in this one, but it’s definitely not a super lock type game.
I give Tennessee the nod due to them being at home, the extra week of rest and Tennessee’s defense giving rookie Paxton Lynch a hard time.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Tennessee 24 – Denver 21
Mariota will definitely have some jitters early, but should impress as Tennessee wins it’s preseason opener in a low scoring battle.
