The Denver Broncos will travel to the Sunshine State to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday. Both teams have been struggling as of late, but the Broncos are much more likely to get back on the right track late in the season.
Denver has had a rough stretch over the last few weeks.
They have lost two of their last three games, including a 30-27 overtime thriller against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. They will have to finish the season strong in order to compete in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL this year.
They are currently in 3rd place in the AFC West.
The Jaguars are having another traditional Jaguars season.
They have only won two games this year and have lost six in a row. Last Sunday, they lost on the road at Buffalo 28-21.
They are currently in last place in the AFC South, and only the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers have worse overall records.
The Broncos are led by one of the strongest defenses in the NFL. First year starter Trevor Siemian has been effective, but it is doubtful that he can grow into anything more than a solid game manager.
Denver has been up and down this year and struggled against divisional opponents, but a conference win here would help their playoff chances.
The Broncos are 19th in the NFL in total offense, averaging 337.4 yards per game.
They are 14th in scoring offense with 24.2 p0ints per game.
They still are able to hang their hats on defense in 2016. Denver has the 4th best defense in the league, allowing just 313.9 yards per game, and they are the best in the NFL against the pass (193.9 passing yards allowed).
It is tough to find much good to say about the Jags this year. They showed some promise early in the season but quickly reverted to typical Jacksonville football.
They have lost six straight, and this will likely be the seventh. The only silver lining will be another high draft pick, but they have already picked in the top five for the last three years.
The main question offensively for Atlanta will be at the RB position.
The Jags are 23rd in the NFL offensively, with 334.2 yards per game. They are 26th in scoring offense, putting up only 19.5 points per game.
The defense has been impressive but struggles mightily in the redzone. They rank 6th in total defense (320.9 yards allowed) and 3rd against the pass (204.3 passing yards allowed).
However, they are 27th in the NFL in scoring offense and allow 26.6 points per contest.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Broncos are 9-4 ATS in last 13 games
- Broncos are 12-4 SU in last 16 games
- Jaguars are 2-4 ATS in last 6 games
- Jaguars are 1-5 SU in last 6 home games
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Broncos -4.5
The Broncos are undoubtedly the better team in this one. Both teams have strong defenses, so this should be relatively low scoring.
The Jaguars have struggled to put points on the board this season, and they have been particularly bad at home.
NFL Free Score Prediction: Denver 20 – Jacksonvlle 13
Jacksonville has a good pass rush and even better secondary, so they may give Trevor Siemian some trouble. But the opportunistic Denver defense will get at least one turnover from Blake Bortles and give the offense chances to score.
