The Bears come into this game as one of the eleven undefeated teams left in the NFL after two weeks. On the other hand, the Falcons are one of the eleven teams that are still winless coming into Week 3 and will look to change that here against Chicago at home.
Chicago came back from a 17-point deficit in Week 1 and almost lost a 17 points lead in Week 2. All that matters though is that they were able to hold the lead is when the clocks ticked zero. The Bears are currently tied with the Packers for the best record in the NFC North.
Mitch Trubisky is looking on the right track to having a bounce-back year after missing the playoffs in 2019. Trubisky has completed 38 of 64 passes for 432 yards this season to go with a 5:2 TD to INT ratio. He has looked really good in the first two games even though they were against some of the worst defenses in the league.
Khalil Mack is listed as questionable for this game on Sunday and you will want to keep an eye out on this one as Mack is a huge part of their defensive attack.
Roquan Smith has been a monster upfront so far this season leading the team with 15 tackles and 12 of them are solo tackles. As a team, the Bears have allowed an average of 18 points in the first two games to start the season.
The Falcons have been on the wrong side of two games. After being up 39-20 against the Cowboys heading into the fourth quarter, Dallas had a miraculous comeback. The Cowboys got an onside kick after scoring a touchdown with 40 seconds on the clock and then kicked a field goal as time expired to seal the game 40-39.
Offensively, Atlanta has been thriving to begin to the year. Dan Quinn’s offense is averaging 32 points per game so far and Matt Ryan is looking like his 2016 MVP form. Ryan has thrown for six touchdowns and one interception in the first two games of the season. He is the second leader in passing yards in the NFL through two weeks with 723 yards through the air.
Special teams and defense have been the Achilles heel to the Falcons so far this season. They have allowed over 35 points in each of their first two starts and allowed 40 in their last contest against the Cowboys.
NFL Betting Trends:
- Chicago is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games.
- The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Chicago’s last 12 games.
- Chicago is 6-2 SU in their last 8 games.
- Atlanta is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games.
- The total has gone OVER in 5 of Atlanta’s last 6 games.
- Atlanta is 4-2 SU in their last 6 games.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Chicago +3.5
I think Atlanta picks up their first win of the season here, but I like the Bears to be able to keep it close and cover the +3.5 spread. Chicago’s defense has proven to be still one of the best in the NFL and Mitch Trubisky has shown that he is a competent starter through two starts this season. If Mitch can penetrate the Falcons weak secondary look for the Bears to pull the potential upset in Atlanta and ut Dan Quinn on the hot seat.
