Green Bay is going to have to play things out if they want the top spot in the NFC.
Carolina has proven to be spunky at times but it is hard to maintain high effort given how their season has gone.
Green Bay gets a chance for an easy win to put the pressure on the Saints to keep pace.
Carolina Panthers
They have some company but at 4-9 the Panthers have the worst record in the NFC. This team was 3-3 at one point and optimism for the new regime was high but injuries hurt the group and they have not been able to win close games.
Carolina might blown their last best chance at another win this season last week against Denver. After Green Bay, they are at Washington and home to New Orleans, all teams that could make the playoffs.
The Panthers are used to not having Christian McCaffery this season but the offense is also done playmaking receiver DJ Moore. He has COVID-19 and an ankle issue.
That means more action for Robby Anderson who is having a really good season. Curtis Samuel will also see a lot more targets. They have enough playmakers to put some pressure on the defense still.
Carolina has had some good game against good teams. They have also come up short so many times. They have to get off to good start in this one to have a chance.
Green Bay Packers
Green Bay beat Detroit last week and has won three in a row and five of six. Everyone thought they were just going to be better than average this season but the numbers say they are pretty darn good.
Green Bay has already won the NFC North so these final weeks are just about staying healthy and gaining the best playoff position possible. That might be relevant if they are playing with a big lead.
Early on the running game was really good but as the season has progressed Aaron Rodgers has been more of a factor. Green Bay is second in the league in passing offense and total offense…and first in scoring.
If you use standard rating Rodgers is having his best season in almost a decade. His rating is 119. He should be able to keep that number nice and high against the Panthers.
The Green Bay defense is right in the middle of the pack. They should be able to keep Teddy Bridgewater from creating too much magic.

I can easily see Green Bay with a nice working 10-14 point lead but have some concern about what happens on that final possession for Carolina. The fact that Green Bay still needs at least one win to best New Orleans and we have a few weeks left makes me think they will play this one fairly straight.
