The Ravens will be on the road this week to take on the Colts down in Indianapolis in Week 9 of the NFL season. Baltimore is coming off a loss to the Steelers 28-24 after some crushing injuries that took place in the game, while the Colts are coming off a commanding win over the Lions 41-21.
Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore suffered a huge loss on Sunday and it was not just the game as they will be without Ronnie Stanley for the rest of the year. Stanley just signed a 5-year extension worth almost 100 million dollars 48 hours before his injury. He was on his way to another all-pro season and has been a huge factor for the Ravens in the run game. You could see how the offensive line struggled to protect Lamar once he left the game and it’s going to be a determinant moving forward.
The Steeler’s came ready to play against Baltimore last week and forced Lamar Jackson to have an uncharacteristic game. Lamar turned the ball over five times in the loss, but still only lost by four points as the defense did the best they could. In the first half, the Ravens held Big Ben to zero points offensively with the only score coming from a pick-six.
Look for Lamar to have a bounce-back week after struggling as he is 2-1 in his career off a loss and has only lost back-to-back games one time in the last three years as a starting quarterback. Jackson has regressed this season since winning the MVP last year and is really having a hard time throwing the ball this year. He has completed 115 of 190 passes for 1343 yards to go along with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Defensively, the Ravens may be in trouble in this game as a bunch of players have just hit the COVID-19 list for the team including Marlon Humphrey, Patrick Queen, Calais Campbell, and Brandon Williams. As a rookie, Patrick Queen is the team’s leading tackler and there will be a huge hole in the linebacker position with him gone. Marlon Humphrey is probably the team’s best player in the secondary, so that’s another big loss for them.
As a team, Baltimore is surrendering 18.9 points a game which is good for the second-best mark in the NFL. They are also the number team at forcing fumbles in the NFL and have a league-high nine forced fumbles.
Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis grabbed a win against the Lions their last timeout out thanks to some great play by their running backs. All together the Colts backs posted 206 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns on the day.
Phillip Rivers has been competent so far to start the season but will need to be better as they have a tough slew of opponents coming up. Rivers has completed 161 of 231 passes this season for 1860 yards to go along with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. As a team, the Colts are averaging 28.3 points per game which is good for 10th in the league.
The Colts seem like a completely different team when Darius Leonard is in the lineup. He returned from injury for the first time since week 4 and it was the first time in three weeks that the Indianapolis defense held an opponent to 21 points or less.

4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: Ravens -2
I still think the Ravens have the edge in this matchup with them having the much better quarterback. Phil Rivers has really struggled in the past if you put pressure on him, so look out for the Ravens front seven to have a big effect on him in this game. The Ravens are going to need to force the Colts to turn the ball over which has been hard to do this season with such a good offensive line for Indianapolis. If the Colts have one weakness it’s in the secondary so expect Lamar to have to take shots down the field. Give me the Ravens to cover the number in a close game.
