The Falcons barely handled the Detroit Lions in Week 16, 20–16, to get within one game of .500 and stay relevant in the NFC playoff picture.
Matt Ryan threw for 215 yards and a touchdown without an interception. His counterpart, Detroit backup Tad Boyle, who was filling in for Jared Goff, finished with 187 and a touchdown but threw an interception on the Lions’ final possession inside the red zone.
Detroit’s opportunity to win it came after a fumble by Falcons wide receiver Russell Gage, who finished with four catches for 39 yards.
Kyle Pitts led the Falcons receiving corps with six balls for 102.
Neither Mike Davis nor Cordarrelle Patterson rushed for much. They ran it seven times each for 42 total yards. Patterson did find pay dirt from six yards out.
Atlanta’s defense didn’t get to Boyle, while its offensive line allowed the Lions to sack Ryan three times in the win.
The Bills haven’t gone without their struggles this season but with two weeks left to play they are right where they want to be: atop the AFC East with a chance to secure a first round bye if they can take care of business the rest of the way.
Josh Allen finished with 314 passing yards and another 64 on the ground in a Week 16 win over New England by a 33–21 score.
His first of three touchdowns was the 100th of his career, making him the third Bills quarterback to join the century club. He is still more than 100 TD passes off of Jim Kelly’s franchise record.
Isaiah McKenzie had a career game for Buffalo in the passing game, hauling in 11 balls for 125 yards and that 100th touchdown of Allen’s career.
Stefon Diggs didn’t break a big play but was consistently involved with seven catches for 85 yards and a touchdown.
The Bills defense sacked Mac Jones once and picked him off twice, opportunistic around tipped balls. It’s in line for a dominant performance against Atlanta in Week 17.

4* Free Week 17 NFL Betting Prediction:
Buffalo should win this game easily but it may not come to pass as such.
The Falcons have managed to hang tough this season. They are overmatched in this game but won’t necessarily go down easily, especially if they can catch a break or two on Sunday.
The Bills, meanwhile, are in a bit of a letdown spot after an emotional win over New England, which made up for a loss to the Patriots three weeks earlier.
Buffalo will come out aggressively, as it always does. It will only take a mistake or two to fail to cover this large spread.
Atlanta hangs just tough enough to finish inside the number.
