2018 Pittsburgh Steelers Predictions: Roster Changes
Last season’s early postseason exit would have been a good excuse for the front office to make sweeping changes to the team’s core, but that offense is just too talented to blow up just yet. The team was never able to come to an agreement on a long-term deal with star running back Le’Veon Bell. That could hurt them down the road, but for now, he will be on the field in Week 1 and that’s all that matters.

Wide receiver Martavis Bryant was traded to the Raiders, so a new No. 2 receiver will need to be broken in. Linebacker Jon Bostic was added to give an extra veteran presence to that group, and safety Morgan Burnett will do the same for the secondary.
2018 Pittsburgh Steelers Predictions: Offense
One of the biggest changes of the offseason comes on the sideline, with offensive coordinator Todd Haley heading to the division rival Browns. Ben Roethlisberger will be working with a new offensive coordinator for the first time since 2011, but you’d have to figure not much will change.

Bryant did such a good job of stretching the defense and keeping safeties away from Antonio Brown. JuJu Smith-Schuster is solid in his own right, but doesn’t offer that same dynamic.
Bell is the best player at his position, and figures to shoulder a significant workload once again after running for nearly 1,300 yards and adding over 80 catches. There isn’t much depth behind him so the Steelers need to make sure they keep Bell on the field.
2018 Pittsburgh Steelers Predictions: Defense
The Steeler defense took a major hit when Ryan Shazier went down in Week 12 of last season with a serious spinal injury. He’s already been ruled out for the 2018 season. Burnett is the key addition to a unit that now appears to be built through the secondary. With the team able to score as quickly as it can – and with the Patriots as their No. 1 foe – that’s a wise decision. Cameron Heyward is a true throwback Steeler. A year after contributing 12 sacks, he’ll again anchor the group up front.
2018 Pittsburgh Steelers Handicapping: (Strengths/Weaknesses)
The offense is the driving force of this team. The Roethlisberger-Brown-Bell combo is better than any other skill position trio in the league.

It’s tough to identify weaknesses on this roster. The team’s biggest disadvantage would have to be Mike Tomlin’s troubles as a game manager on the sideline.
2018 Pittsburgh Steelers Prediction (Final Record): 11-5
At this point, the regular season isn’t even a consideration for the Steelers – their eyes a squarely focused on the Super Bowl, and they definitely have the talent to get there and win it. There might be a bit of a learning curve with the new play caller, but the lessons from Haley’s early days should make for a smooth transition.
The Le’Veon Bell contract situation is a problem that’s going to pop up at some point, but following a 400-touch season, they can choose to run him into the ground if they have no intention of re-signing him.
The Steelers are the clear favorites in the AFC North – it’s their division to lose. They’ll make a run at the AFC title and the Super Bowl. If they can avoid the hurdles in their path along the way, they have the personnel to accomplish both.
