2018 Detroit Lions Predictions: Roster Changes
The Lions know that they need to win soon, so a coaching change was made. Out is Jim Caldwell and in is Matt Patricia who hasn’t had a smooth start to the season.
There was a sexual assault controversy from long ago, that resurfaced and there was talk about him losing his job, but he will be able to keep it.
The Lions weren’t super active in free agency, but they still made a couple of good signings. They brought in tight end Luke Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks.
They also brought in Super Bowl winning running back LaGarrette Blount who should be a really big boost to their backfield.
The Lions lost Eric Ebron which is probably actually a good thing for the Lions. He had such high expectations coming in, but didn’t come close to living up to them.
Linebacker Tahir Whitehead and defensive tackle Haloti Ngata are gone. How the Lions replace them is going to be key.
2018 Detroit Lions Predictions: Offense
The offense starts with Matthew Stafford and the weight of the world is once again all on his shoulders. How well this team does this season comes down to his play.
The Lions have always had trouble in the consistency at the running back position but they hope they have the answer by way of second-round pick in Kerryon Johnson out of Auburn.
Outside the Lions have no shortage out wide receivers. Golden Tate and Marvin Jones are stars and they are going to have no issue both having special years.
2018 Detroit Lions Predictions: Defense
Patricia is a defensive coach, so that should help the defense at least a bit. Last year the defense was 27th in the NFL in yards allowed.
They were said to lack toughness, and that is something that this team should have this year, or it’s going to be a long year.
I think the defense will be better, but I don’t think it’s going to be elite by any means.
2018 Detroit Lions Handicapping: (Strengths/Weaknesses)
The passing attack is going to be this team’s strength again. Stafford is going to sling the ball again, and it’s going to lead to a lot of points scored.
It’s a good thing that the offense is good, because I think the defense will be a struggle.
I think the secondary is going to get light up, and that is going to cause a big issue for a team trying to make the playoffs.
2018 Detroit Lions Prediction (Final Record): 7-9
I think the Lions are going to actually play okay this year, but I think in a tough NFC they are going to have some issues.
The Lions will finish with a 7-9 record and third place in the NFC North.
