2018 Cleveland Browns Predictions: Roster Changes
Quarterback was the biggest area that needed to be addressed for the Browns in the offseason, and Dorsey made a pair of moves to help solidify the position. He used the No. 1 overall pick to draft quarterback Baker Mayfield out of Oklahoma, and made a trade with the Buffalo Bills to acquire Tyrod Taylor, allowing the team an option at the position in the interim while Mayfield gets ready for game action at the pro level.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Dorsey’s revamping of the roster in his first offseason at the helm. Cornerback Denzel Ward was selected three picks after Mayfield, giving the team a potential shutdown cornerback to help revitalize the pass defense, along with 2017 No. 1 pick Myles Garrett.
The loss of future Hall of Fame tackle Joe Thomas is a massive hole the team will struggle to fill, but they’re hoping a bevy of new weapons at the offensive skill positions will make up for that, with running back Carlos Hyde coming over from San Francisco, and Jarvis Landry slotting in following a trade with Miami.
2018 Cleveland Browns Predictions: Offense
The Browns learned their lesson a year ago after throwing DeShone Kizer to the lions too early. This year the plan is to let Mayfield hold a clipboard behind Taylor until the rookie is ready.

And it’s an interesting situation for Taylor, who may be playing with the best group of skill position players he’s lined up with in the NFL. LeSean McCoy was of course a stud, but Taylor now gets to play with the likes of Hyde, Landry, Josh Gordon, and David Njoku.
What will determine this unit’s fate is how the offensive line holds up. The team was obviously caught off guard when Thomas went down with an injury last season after never having missed a snap in his career, but they’ve had time to fill his spot, and the rest of the line remains strong.
2018 Cleveland Browns Predictions: Defense
The team’s defensive secondary was dreadful last season, so Dorsey did his best to address that, starting with Ward at No. 4 overall in the draft, and adding E.J. Gaines and T.J. Carrie to compete for the spot on the opposite side.
Damarious Randall will make the move to safety alongside Jabrill Peppers, who had a forgettable rookie season.
2018 Cleveland Browns Handicapping: (Strengths/Weaknesses)
The team’s linebacking corps has a chance to really stand out. Christian Kirksey signed a big money extension last offseason but didn’t live up to it. He’s a prime bounceback candidate. As is Jamie Collins, who hasn’t been the player the team thought it was getting when they acquired him from the Patriots. Joe Schobert was strong in the middle a year ago, but he’s likely the odd man out with the signing of Mychal Kendricks.

The left tackle spot is a major question mark that could derail the offense. The only blocker selected in the early stages of the draft was Austin Corbett, but he’s unlikely to see any time at left tackle. Shon Coleman struggled at right tackle a year ago, and new addition Chris Hubbard will likely be taking over on that side of the line.
2018 Cleveland Browns Prediction (Final Record): 6-10
The time’s come for the Browns to begin to see the fruits of their labor after stockpiling draft picks for years. Hue Jackson only has one win to his name as head coach, so this is a real make or break season for him. Expect the Browns to do some winning, but there are still a lot of holes on this roster.
