The #3 seed Kansas Jayhawks will collide with the #6 seed USC Trojans in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament Monday night from the Hinkle Fieldhouse.
The Trojans had no issues in their opening round clash, walloping #11 Drake. The Trojans coasted to a cover as 7.5-point favorites and looked dominant enough to come into this matchup as a favorite although they’re the lower seed.
The Jayhawks had to withdraw from the BIG 12 Tournament due to COVID protocol but were still able to grab a win in the first round on Saturday afternoon. Kansas grinded out a 93-84 win against Eastern Washington after being down by 8 points at the half. The Big Sky Conference winners were scoring at will all game it wasn’t until Kansas got their offense going that they couldn’t keep up.
The winner will move on to face Oregon in the Sweet 16 who just finished embarrassing #2 Iowa.

Kansas Jayhawks
The #3 Kansas Jayhawks were able to avoid the upset in their First Round win over #14 seed Eastern Washington. They were down eight at the half and rebounded to topple the Eagles 93-84 in a matchup that had Kansas labeled as 10.5 point favorites
During the season, Kansas faced the 22nd strongest schedule in the nation, according to KenPom. The only non-conference losses this season were to the No. 1 rated team Gonzaga 102-90, and No. 21 rated Tennessee 81-60. Kansas’ non-conference Division I wins were against Saint Joseph’s, Kentucky, North Dakota State, Creighton, and Omaha.
David McCormack made his return from a one-game absence due to COVID protocol and was stellar, recording 22 points and nine boards in only 25 minutes.
Ochai Agbaji is thriving. The junior guard has netted at least 19 points in three consecutive games including 21 points in Saturday’s victory. Agbaji, a 6’5 junior, leads Kansas with 14.2 ppg, David McCormack a 6’10 junior with 13.4 points and 6.1 rebounds, and Jalen Wilson, a 6’8 freshmen with 12.1 points and a team-best 8.2 rebounds.
USC Trojans
The #6 USC Trojans are one of those teams nobody wants to play against in this tournament. USC is solid in all areas of the game and their talent was on full display in their dominating 72-56 victory over #11 Drake in their first-round battle.
The Trojans have won four out of their last five games with the only blemish in that span coming in a narrow defeat against #5 seed Colorado who have also advanced to the second round.
Evan Mobley is one of the most talented players in the country and will be a top-three pick in this year’s NBA draft. The seven-foot freshman forward earned the double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds in Saturday’s winning effort and has scored 17 or more points in three straight performances. Mobley is sporting an average of 16.8 PPG and 8.7 RPG.
CBB Betting Trends:
- Trojans are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 NCAA Tournament games.
- Trojans are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 neutral site games as a favorite.
- Trojans are 17-8 ATS in their last 25 neutral site games overall.
- Jayhawks are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 NCAA Tournament games.
- Jayhawks OVERS are 4-2 in last 6 games
Free Kansas Jayhawks vs. USC Trojans NCAAB Prediction:
USC looked great against #11 Drake and now prepare for a stronger opponent. This Trojans team has no glaring weaknesses and is going to be very difficult to beat. Kansas was not very convincing in their first-round win against Eastern Washington as they were down at half and gave up a whopping 84 points against the #14 seed.
Furthermore, USC has the skill to solve the Jayhawks defense. Trojans’ star Evan Mobley, who is a top NBA prospect, is truly a game-changer which was evident in his double-double performance on Saturday. Kansas allowed Eastern Washington to shoot 50% from the field which is not a good sign going up against an efficient Trojans team. I also expect the Trojans’ size advantage to play a factor propelled by Mobley. USC has the rebounding edge and should out-rebound Kansas.
