The 6-seed Texas Tech Red Raiders face off against the 3-seed Arkansas Razorbacks in the second round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament on Sunday afternoon from Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Texas Tech built off an impressive Big 12 run to take down Utah State in the first round 65-53. The Red Raiders were led by 16 points from Mac McClung and the team covered their spread.
Arkansas on the other hand struggled for 30 minutes against Colgate but used strong finishes in both halves to separate themselves from the Aggies. Justin Smith led the way for the Razorbacks with a team-high 29 points as they picked up a 85-68 win over Colgate and covered their spread as well.
The winner is set to take on the winner between Oral Roberts and Florida, with an eye towards the Elite Eight.

One of the most entertaining teams in the country, Eric Musselman’s Razorbacks find themselves square in the middle of one of Sunday’s most exciting games. A win would advance them to a very winnable Sweet 16 game against either #7 Florida or #15 Oral Roberts.
Once down double digits in the first half, the Razorbacks used a strong surge to find themselves up one at halftime. They then weathered another Colgate storm at the start of the second half and finished strong to win and cover 85-68.
Moses Moody continues to look every bit the part of an NBA lottery pick in the upcoming draft, leading the team with 17.4 ppg and averaging nearly 6 rpg from the backcourt. Forward Justin Smith is second on the team in scoring with 13.6 ppg and a team high 7.1 rpg. The Red Red Raiders found themselves down at halftime to Utah State on Friday, but quickly changed the tide through a strong defensive effort that was reminiscent of Texas Tech teams of the past. According to their rankings, it should come as no surprise that Texas Tech ranks 13th in defense efficiency as the team forced the Aggies into a season high 22 turnovers.
Georgetown transfer Mac McClung had 16 points on Friday in only 30 minutes and will be the key against Arkansas in a crucial matchup with Moody. The explosiveness of Texas Tech’s offense will be on full display, and McClung will need to have a big day against Arkansas.
